Mid-State Insurance and Investment Services was founded in 1986 by Joe LaBarbera as an independent life and health insurance agency that operated out of the basement of his parent’s home. One year later, Mid-State opened its first office in Shorewood, Wisconsin and began offering investment products as well. By 1989 the agency grew into the property and casualty side of the business.
