Birth is not supposed to be a scary thing like this. We must do more to protect and care for women in all stages of life.

Every two minutes, a woman dies from complications related to pregnancy or childbirth — most of them preventable with timely, quality care.

Conflict and instability are making pregnancy even more dangerous. Nearly two-thirds of maternal deaths worldwide happen in countries affected by war or fragility, warns the World Health Organization (WHO).

Urgent action is needed to ensure women and babies everywhere have access to high quality care.
