A major goal of mine this year is to expand my portfolio of floral art installations and was so grateful to for allowing me to participate in her show this past weekend. It is a true privilege to present my work to the public as genuine art. I have done several moss installations so I was not worried about being able to construct it but several things challenged me through the process that I did not expect. For one, standing in front of a mirror for hours was not fun for someone who usually avoids mirrors. I kept glimpsing my tired, ragged, bruised face in the mirror. It brought up many of my insecurities. About my age, my perception of beauty, imposter syndrome. I was using moss that I had saved from numerous events in the past, and bits and pieces of flowers from those events were still embedded in the moss. While many of these events hold fond memories, others tested me and just about did me in. As I picked through the moss and the dried flowers, I felt a twinge of discomfort, as they brought to mind parts of my identity that I’ve been grappling with lately. Engaging in self-reflection is not easy. The universe constantly presents us with chances to grow, but it’s essential to recognize these moments. When you choose to see them, you’ll find that difficult times and the lessons they provide play a significant role in your evolution. It becomes a a transformative experience. This installation not only enabled me to explore my creativity but also facilitated some profound shadow work.

Happy Pride Month! To all my new followers, I want to be abundantly clear that we are fierce allies here.

I am the mother of two incredible young women who are gay and I will always advocate for their rights—both as women and as members of the LGBTQ+ community. This commitment to equality and advocacy is a core value of mine and of Everbloom.

I am proud to stand with the community this month and always.

Do color combinations make you giddy sometimes? I really think that I can feel the vibe from the color of things. Anyone else?

I made this reel a few days ago and have not been able to write a caption. I chose the music with the intention to say something clever like Toot your horn! Or something else clever about speaking up but I recently had a few experiences that made me reconsider how I communicate with those on the other side of the political fence. I actually had a conversation with a well known protest crasher. And reminded a fellow liberal feminist Subaru driver to not behave in a way that just makes us all look bad. It could be dangerous. Sometimes when all we are doing is shouting the message can’t be heard. Sometimes you have to listen, be kind, and try and have a conversation. So enjoy the peppy music and fun cobra lilies in this arrangement and remember to check yourself before you scream profanity or get in the face of someone you disagree with.

Bridal bouquets are honestly not my favorite thing to make. Am I the only florist who kinda dreads them? 20 plus years in and I wish I could make them without stressing. But I take your flowers very seriously. You can be sure I have not just thrown it together. I’ve obsessed over every stem placement and made sure it’s picture perfect.

As a recovering color spectrum addict, monochromatic florals can be challenging for me. Getting a little practice in before our all purple wedding next weekend.
