Goodness is the absence of sin, and is a key element of God’s essence. There is no darkness, evil or wrong in Him. Everything about Him and everything He does is good. Our obedience to God allows us to experience the good life promised by Him - both now and eternally.

“Jesus said, “Why do you question me about what’s good? God is the One who is good. If you want to enter the life of God, just do what he tells you.””

Many people think the opposite of love is hate, but the root of hate is often fear. Fear can be stifling and prevent us from living the abundant life of love that God desires for us? What fears can you give to God in exchange for love? ‭

“God is love. When we take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us. This way, love has the run of the house, becomes at home and mature in us, so that we’re free of worry on Judgment Day—our standing in the world is identical with Christ’s. There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life—fear of death, fear of judgment—is one not yet fully formed in love.”

Refresh | to give new strength or energy; to reinvigorate

When we turn or turn back to God and away from sin, God will give us a fresh start through forgiveness and redemption. What inner thoughts can you turn away from to access your fresh start today?

“So repent [change your inner self—your old way of thinking, regret past sins] and return [to God—seek His purpose for your life], so that your sins may be wiped away [blotted out, completely erased], so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord [restoring you like a cool wind on a hot day];”

Remind | to bring something, especially a commitment or necessary course of action, to the attention of (someone).

Our world is filled with comparison and lacks compassion. Today, I’m reminding you that Christ loves you, and your confidence and authority comes from God!

“You seem to always be looking at people by their outward appearances. If someone is confident that he belongs to Christ, he should remind himself of this: we belong to Christ no less than he does.”

Reward | something given or received in return or recompense for service, merit, hardship, etc.

Our faith pleases God and gives us access to walk with Him. Walking with God puts us in God’s direct proximity and gives us direct access to His provision, protection and promises.

“But without faith it is impossible to [walk with God and] please Him, for whoever comes [near] to God must [necessarily] believe that God exists and that He rewards those who [earnestly and diligently] seek Him.”

Rescue | to save or be saved from danger or distress

It’s very difficult to be saved when we fight against things meant to protect us. What danger or distress do you need to be rescued from? What do you need to release to access the hand of the Savior?

Revive | to bring back to life or consciousness

God wants our faith alive and strong. When we grow weary, God speaks life to our faith through the Word of God. Open up your Bible and allow God to revive your faith through His promises!

Receive | to get or be given something

God gives us mercy and allows us to find grace so that we have all that we need. Mercy is God’s ability to extend forgiveness and kindness when we live outside of His will. Grace is the undeserved love and favor of God

Hebrews‬ ‭4:16‬ ‭NIV‬‬
“Let us then approach God’s throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.”

Trying to do things in our own strength leads to anxiety, weariness and worry! Those mindsets are most prevalent when we focus on our situations more than our Savior. This is why God instructs us to rest in and focus on Him.
