In 2025, Tech901 launched Tech Essentials as an optional introductory course to the IT field. This year, it became the starting point for all incoming students.

If you're new to IT, Tech Essentials gives you the foundation so you walk into IT Foundations already confident. It's a 4-week course that teaches basic concepts and terminology, as well as the different pathways available to folks depending on their certifications.

This summer, Tech901 alum and (now) part-time instructor Paul Rogers accepted a Level 2 Tech role at ! The most important lesson he's learned in his five years here? Troubleshoot.

"When you're encountering a problem, you don't always know the full depth of the problem, and you might not even know how you're going to fix it when you first approach it. The most important part is to have the mindset of, 'How do I troubleshoot something?' It's knowing enough to figure out how you find the answer."
