Juneteenth, a combination of June + nineteenth, is celebrated annually throughout the United States to commemorate the end of slavery. It is the 160th anniversary of when enslaved people of Galveston Texas, finally learned two years after Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation that had already declared them FREE. On that day, the 250,000 African Americans still enslaved were told that the Civil War had ended and that they had been legally declared freed.
Have a commemorative and safe Juneteenth Holiday!
