This Kettle of Hawks illustration is available as a print on Etsy and Faire. This was such a fun one to work on. I really enjoyed creating the shapes and movement.

The collective noun for a group of hawks is a kettle! It’s also a verb: if you see a group of hawks swirling and spiraling together during spring or fall migration, they’re kettling.
I drew broad-winged hawks for this illustration, because the biggest kettle I’ve ever seen was hundreds of broad-winged hawks. I paired them with trout lilies. It might seem like a weird choice to pair something on the forest floor with something way up in the sky, but I tend to see them around the same time every spring. I think they work well together.

I just added some new ruby throated hummingbird pins to my shop! Have you seen any around? They’ve been migrating through the mid-Atlantic.

Do you have these rabbits at home? They are the oldest print I sell, painted back in 2012! They are still a favorite. Most recently they’ve appeared on the set of Margo’s Got Money Troubles. Lots of people tell me this piece reminds them of Watership Down. What do you think these rabbits are discussing? . I’ll have rabbit prints and more at the Lansdowne Arts on the Avenue Festival!
