Blessed Roots Dreadlock Care

Here's a braid in set I did for Krysten last weekend - approx 60 double ended synthetics! She purchased the set from an etsy maker(I'd plug the shop but I didn't catch who the maker was) and I used a standard blanket stitch braid to put them in. Braid ins are a great way to enjoy the feel of having locks without the commitment! They can typically be worn for 4-6 weeks at a time and require no special care for the duration of the wear.
This set took 3.5 hrs to install 😊

I did a maintenance and some wraps on my friend and coworker at last weekend. Forgot to snap a before of the maintenance - oops! I installed her dreads and extensions back in February and they're looking so mature and well formed already 🥰 Thank you 💜

Greetings, friends! Long time no post, I know 🙏
I had to take a step back from doing hair these past several months to focus on my mental health and finding balance between work and play. Burnout is super real and many warned me about succumbing to it - I somehow thought I'd be immune because I love the work I do, but working full time at one job and also doing dreads in nearly all my spare time finally caught up to me.
I want to apologize to those who reached out and didn't hear back. I'm sorry. The guilt has weighed on me as heavily as the exhaustion.
I'm happy to say that I've found some much needed peace within myself lately, and I'm eager to return to booking a fuller schedule of clients(while diligently leaving space for myself to rest and enjoy down time).

Here's a session I did yesterday for Lacy, whose had her gorgeous dreads for 15 years 😻

Wallace had his locks installed a few months ago by a loctician in Cali, and unfortunately they created sections/dreads that were too thick for comfort. The synthetic extensions used were too bulky at the connection point on some of them as well, so we did a little re-do on those ones. I picked the extensions out, and picked the thicker locks apart, creating two out of each one. Then I replaced the synthetic extensions with human hair extensions I made for him.
The result is so satisfying! Now all his locks are uniform and his sections are more manageable and comfortable.

Here is a set of extensions I did on Megan's lovely set of partial dreads. The different angle of the photos is slightly deceiving, because she's sitting in the first and standing in the second, but we added about 6 inches of length all over and evened out the shorter ones. I took the "before" after I had already taken some loose hair to create 4 new locks, so oops - it's not a perfect "before" 😅 but I think you get the idea ❤️
She was so delighted with the outcome and is looking forward to playing with hair styles now that she has even length all over!

An install + extensions for Jacob a couple months ago 😊 He'd been dreaming of dreads for many years, so he grew his hair out to a length suitable to dread and add extensions to, and viòla!

Badass braid-in session with Angi today 😻 This was our second install of these super pretty kanekolon dreads and I love the natural look of them. I feel like they suit her so well! 😁

Here's an install with extensions I did for Samala over the summer. I created her natural locks first, then added in a set of extensions I made that are doubled up for extra length 🥰 Princess hair achieved!

This is a set I created for Krysta over the course of about a month. We installed her natural dreads and her first set of extensions in March, and once she was used to that length we added in another set of extensions in April. Absolute princess hair!

Maier was an absolute CHAMP for her session. I traveled to Klamath Falls in mid April to do an overhaul on her fresh locks that had been installed by someone well-meaning but untrained. Not pictured are her mother and neighbor who also received maintenance that day 😊
Maier was so patient and dedicated to sitting through her session so she could have the hair of her dreams. It was a pleasure and an honor to have a hand in her dread journey.
