This FREE community event will bring together resources for the whole family, including health screenings, counseling and mental health support, food boxes, fitness activities, haircuts and more.

Meet Darion Culbertson, a valued member of The Samaritan Inn Board of Directors and our current Board Chair!

Darion brings decades of experience in business leadership, public service, and community stewardship to our mission. Darion previously served as Mayor of the Town of Fairview and continues to serve North Texas through nonprofit leadership, his church, and numerous community efforts. He is a passionate advocate for “the least, the lost, and the left-out,” bringing compassion and strategic insight to the causes he supports.

We are grateful for Darion’s leadership and dedication to helping The Samaritan Inn empower individuals and families on their journey toward independence. Please join us in recognizing Darion and the impact he continues to make throughout our community!

A semi truck full of food and a whole lot of generosity! 💙

We are incredibly grateful to our partners at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and JustServe for delivering pallets of food to support our community. This generous donation will be shared between The Samaritan Inn Food Pantry and our shelter kitchen, helping provide nutritious food for both Pantry clients and residents of The Samaritan Inn.

Partnerships like this show what’s possible when our community comes together with a shared goal of caring for our neighbors. Thank you to everyone who helped make this incredible donation possible and for continuing to stand alongside The Samaritan Inn!

Learning why we serve makes serving even more meaningful. 💙

We recently welcomed Medical City McKinney for their very first Learn & Serve at The Samaritan Inn!

The team rolled up their sleeves to clean high-use areas around The Inn, including our dining room and playroom. But a Learn & Serve is about more than the work being done. During their visit, Kellie gave the group a tour of The Inn, helping them learn more about our programs, the neighbors we serve and why their volunteer support matters.

That’s the heart of Learn & Serve: connecting hands-on service with a deeper understanding of our mission and the impact our volunteers make every day.

Thank you for showing up, learning alongside us and giving your time to our community. We hope this is the first of many visits!

Another Gateway Apartments move-in worth celebrating! 🏡

We’re excited to welcome Gabriel to his new home at The North Texas Gateway Apartments and incredibly grateful to our longtime friends at NFM for adopting his apartment and making it feel like home from day one.

NFM continues to be an incredible partner, adopting Gateway apartments year after year. They consistently go above and beyond, not only furnishing and preparing apartments but also generously stepping in with monetary support when additional items are needed to complete an adoption.

Because of partners like NFM, Gateway residents like Gabriel can begin this next chapter in a comfortable, welcoming space of their own.

This generous gift will help us continue providing fresh food, pantry staples and essential resources to individuals and families experiencing food insecurity throughout our community.

Sometimes support comes through donations, sponsorships or volunteer hours; and sometimes, it comes on a charcuterie board! 🧀💚

Throughout 2026, Graze Craze McKinney, TX has generously pledged to provide our Programs Team with a custom charcuterie tray and all the fixings once every month. It’s their special way of showing appreciation for the team members who provide counseling, case management, education and other critical support to our residents each day.

Our team looks forward to this monthly treat, but even more than that, we appreciate knowing a local business sees and values the work happening inside The Samaritan Inn.

At The Samaritan Inn, we believe every person deserves to be met with dignity, compassion, and the opportunity to build a brighter future. By participating in the Shatterproof Walk, we’re standing alongside individuals and families impacted by substance use disorder while helping raise awareness, challenge stigma, and support recovery.

The Samaritan Inn had the honor of co-hosting the Housing People & Pets in Crisis Workshop alongside RedRover and Greater Good Charities! 🐾💙

A very special thank you to Katie with RedRover and Gabbie with Greater Good Charities for joining us in Plano and leading such an informative and meaningful day. We are so grateful for the knowledge, resources, and experience they shared with everyone in attendance!

The workshop brought together professionals from animal welfare, housing and homelessness services, victim advocacy, law enforcement, veterinary care, and other community organizations to learn, connect, and discuss how we can better support people and their pets during times of crisis.

For The Samaritan Inn, these conversations are especially meaningful. Through Cooper’s Corner, our on-site pet kennel, we see firsthand how important the human-animal bond can be for individuals and families experiencing homelessness. Workshops like this help us continue learning while also building relationships with organizations throughout our community that share a commitment to supporting people and their pets.

Thank you to everyone who attended, participated in the conversations, shared resources, and helped make the day such a success. We received wonderful feedback and are excited to keep the momentum going by continuing to grow these connections and partnerships!
