Been a while since the last YouTube Heroes feature and this one is special. Our hero for Volume 3 is southtexashousecat AKA Felix Pena, whose YouTube channel has hundreds and hundreds of clips from the 2010s. Funny thing, I actually met Felix at a party 15 years ago! It was the @yourvisionquest pool party at WMC, when I was wearing a T-shirt I designed with “My Baby Does K All Day” on the front. Pretty sure he commented on it and we had a nice exchange. I remember him telling me he had a YouTube channel, so, when I got back home, I went digging through the videos he published and shared a few of them on Facebook. We didn’t actually swap details, but reconnected all these years later through this page. Felix has a great back story. A dedicated lover of electronic music, a man who was deeply involved in the scene, partying, promoting, filming and connecting with other music lovers on the dance floor and behind-the-scenes. His YouTube channel is packed with classic footage from Miami, Texas, Detroit and various other locations. Here he presents a selection of some of his favourite clips, and shares his story. Felix wanted to shout out @djheidi’s BBC Radio 1 ‘In New DJs We Trust’ show from that era. “That’s literally where all the tracks we love from that era were being introduced to the masses,” he says. Big love bro. Thanks for recording all these wonderful memories!
