Altered Tails Project
501(c)(3) non-profit focused on spay, neuter, & TNR (trap, neuter, return) in the Stark County, Ohio area.
The mission of Altered Tails Project is to provide financial assistance for the spaying/neutering of companion animals and free-roaming cats. Our vision is to reduce the number of homeless animals entering our local shelters and ensure the best health of those within homes. We have partnered with local spay/neuter clinics to offer these services at a deeply discounted cost.

Pawsitive Ohio wants to help create a brighter future for some of the most overlooked adoptables–our pets dressed in their finest black coats. Schedule your free spay/netuer surgery through the Black Coats. Bright Futures. promotion with AlterClinic Animal Care.
Despite their equally loving and loyal nature, black dogs and cats have a lower chance of being adopted. It’s a tragic fact that they tend to stay in shelters longer and are more likely to be euthanized due to shelter overcrowding than animals of other colors. We'd like to introduce you to some beautiful black pets in need of a home, meet Autumn.
Autumn is available for adoption through Maggie's Mission; She is a bundle of joy with a heart full of love and a dash of mischief! Autumn gets along wonderfully with cats and shows no signs of food or toy aggression. We do feel that she would do best in a home with no other dogs.

This week absolutely kicked my butt 😵💫
With the help of some incredible people (Michelle, Felicia, Crista & Peggy), we were able to TNR 12 Massillon community cats (10 of them being females) and 12 Altered Tails cats. We also brought 8 kittens into rescue.
I’m exhausted, I’m running on fumes, and I definitely pushed myself way past my limits this week — but the reality is, these cats don’t have anyone else. They need someone to step up.
And that’s why we need more people.
More TNR trappers.
More transporters.
More fosters.
More adopters.
More people taking responsibility for the animals they bring into this world.
The need is overwhelming, and one person can only do so much. ❤️
In the middle of all the chaos, Dobby — a friendly TNR from a trailer park — had his dental done this week. He had his remaining teeth extracted and is officially a toothless boy! 🖤 Those painful, rotten teeth are gone, and I know he’s going to feel so much better.
Two of my foster kittens were also diagnosed with porphyria, which is a new one for us. I’m still learning about it, so if anyone has experience with this diagnosis, please reach out!
The vet bills never stop, and the cats in need never stop showing up. If you’re able to donate, share, foster, or simply spread the word — it all makes a difference.
Thank you for continuing to support Altered Tails Project and the cats who need us most. 🐾

🐾 TNR Requests Temporarily Paused 🐾
I’m hitting pause on new TNR requests for a bit so I can focus on finishing the projects I already have open.
As much as I’d love to help every cat, I’m just one person balancing TNR, a full-time job, fostering, and caring for my own pets. My plate is currently full, and I need to catch up before taking on anything new.
I’ll let everyone know when I’m ready to start accepting new requests again. Thanks for your patience and understanding! ❤️🐱

A huge thank you to Toby’s Critter Cove Rescue for their generous donation in support of our TNR efforts! We are incredibly grateful for our partnership—not only for the financial assistance, but also for taking in cats and kittens from us whenever space allows. Your continued support helps us make a difference for so many animals in need. We truly appreciate everything you do! ❤️

Turner has been silently suffering for far too long. 💔
After hearing him cry out in pain every time he tried to eat, we knew we couldn’t look the other way. Turner was TNR’d a couple of years ago, but his dental disease had become so severe that he urgently needed treatment. His dental procedure totaled $1,100, but it has given him relief from the constant pain he was living with.
Now, while he recovers, his dedicated caregiver is keeping him safe and comfortable with plenty of soft food and care. We’re also hoping to secure rescue placement so Turner can leave life on the streets behind for good.
This was an unexpected expense, but we couldn’t let him continue to suffer. If you’re able to contribute, no amount is too small. Every donation helps us cover Turner’s bill and continue helping cats like him when they need us most.
Please consider donating and sharing his story. Turner deserves a chance at a pain-free future. 🩵🐾

Two weeks ago, I truly thought I was going to lose him. He was so sick with calicivirus —struggling to breathe, eyes swollen shut, and barely hanging on. For days, I syringe-fed him to keep his tiny body going and hoped he would find the strength to fight.
Today, Tiki is a healthy, happy little boy and absolutely perfect. 💙
Rescue is exhausting. It can be heartbreaking, overwhelming, and emotionally draining. But moments like this make every sleepless night and every worry worth it.
Tiki and his siblings will soon be transferring to a receiving rescue where they’ll complete their vetting and begin the next chapter of their journey—finding the loving forever homes they deserve. 🐾
