The Ripple Mission

Inspiring the next generation. 📖 Author: Small Acts with Big Heart
🤝 Be the Ripple. The Ripple Mission was created from love, loss, and the desire to turn pain into purpose. What began as one family's journey to spread kindness has grown into a movement-a collective heartbeat where compassion means healing. 💛
We believe that even the smallest act of kindness can create big waves that reach far beyond what we can see. From helping neighbors and honoring loved ones to inspiring others to do the same, we are here to remind the world that love still exists and it starts with us. 🌻
Join the wave. Be the reason someone believes in goodness again.🌊

❤️ PLEASE SHARE — LET’S CREATE A RIPPLE FOR KATIE. ❤️
This one is personal to me.
Katie is a former coworker and friend of mine, and right now she and her family could use a community standing behind them.
Katie recently suffered a stroke and is currently unable to work while she focuses on healing and recovery. On Sunday, October 18th, friends, family, and community members are coming together for a Benefit Dinner & Mexican Buffet at Duck Lake Country Club from 1–4 PM.
But you don’t have to attend to make a difference.
They are also looking for raffle donations—gift baskets, gift cards, merchandise, services, or anything a local business or individual would be willing to contribute.
Maybe you can donate.
Maybe your business can contribute something.
Maybe you can attend the benefit.
Maybe all you can do is share this post.
Please don’t underestimate that last one. The right share can put this in front of the exact person who wants to help.
The Ripple Mission was built on the belief that small acts can create big ripples. This is one of those moments when we get to put that belief into action.
Let’s surround Katie and her family with the kind of community support that reminds people they don’t have to walk through the hard seasons alone. ❤️

🌿 Sunday Still Water Reflection 🌿
I think my soul has always understood something my mind sometimes struggles to remember:
So much of human behavior is either an act of love or a call for love.
I’ve always found myself looking beneath the surface of people. Behind the anger. Behind the distance. Behind the walls, the mistakes, and even the behaviors that hurt.
I wonder what happened there.
What are they carrying?
What are they afraid of?
What part of them is simply asking to be seen, understood, or loved?
But life has taught me something else, too.
Understanding someone’s pain does not mean we have to let their pain become ours.
Compassion does not require self-abandonment.
Forgiveness does not require unlimited access.
And seeing the wounded heart beneath someone’s behavior does not mean pretending their behavior didn’t hurt us.
Maybe that is where wisdom and love finally meet.
To be soft enough to understand…
wise enough to see clearly…
and strong enough to know when loving someone also means stepping back.
The world can make us hard if we let it. Pain can convince us to stop seeing the humanity in one another.
I don’t want that.
I want to keep looking deeper without losing myself in what I find.
💧 Still Water Question:
Can you see the hurt beneath someone’s behavior while still honoring what your own heart needs?
Sometimes the deepest form of love is compassion with boundaries.
Small acts. Big heart. Lasting ripples.

✨ A little sneak peek/update… and something very close to my heart. 🎒💜
I’ve been quietly working on something that means more to me than I can fully put into words. It is now even more beautiful than when I first started...
The Invisible Backpack.
A story about the things children carry that no one else can see — worry, loneliness, embarrassment, fear, feeling left out — and the small acts of kindness that can make that weight feel a little lighter.
And today, I want to show you something special.
There are two versions of Ellie. 💜
One was created from a deeply personal place. She reflects a little more of me — the little girl who often felt different, stood on the outside looking in, and carried things quietly that other people couldn't see.
The other was created with representation and inclusion in mind — because I want children from different backgrounds to be able to open this story and recognize pieces of themselves, too.
Different little girls.
Different faces.
The same invisible backpack.
Because worry doesn't have one face.
Loneliness doesn't have one skin color.
Belonging isn't something only certain children need.
And kindness belongs to all of us.
My hope is that The Invisible Backpack becomes more than a children's book. I hope it becomes a conversation between children and the grown-ups who love them.
A way to ask:
💜 What are you carrying today?
💜 What made your backpack feel heavy?
💜 What helped make it lighter?
And maybe, just maybe, a reminder to notice the child sitting alone, the friend who suddenly got quiet, or the person whose invisible backpack feels especially heavy that day.
Because sometimes the smallest thing —
a seat at the table,
a kind word,
an invitation,
a simple "you belong here”—
can change someone's entire day.
🎒💗 We all carry something.
But we don't have to carry it alone.
This is The Invisible Backpack.
And I cannot wait to share more with you. 🥹💜
Which Ellie would you like to meet first?

🌊 SEPTEMBER RIPPLE CHALLENGE — WEEK 3: RIPPLE
Week 1, we noticed.
We paid attention to the people around us—the quiet ones, the overlooked ones, the ones who might be carrying more than we could see.
Week 2, we reached.
A message. A conversation. A simple, “How are you really doing?”
Now, Week 3 is about what happens next.
RIPPLE. 💙
This week, take one small act of kindness and put it into motion.
Buy someone's coffee.
Leave an encouraging note.
Thank someone who rarely gets thanked.
Include the person standing on the outside.
Tell someone what they mean to you.
Help without being asked.
Offer grace where it would be easier to judge.
It doesn't have to be big.
That's the whole point.
We often think changing the world requires something extraordinary. But most of us will never see how far one ordinary moment of kindness travels.
The person you encourage may go home a little lighter.
The child you make feel seen may remember it years from now.
The grace you give someone today may become the grace they give someone else tomorrow.
That is the ripple.
So this week's challenge is simple:
💧 NOTICE someone.
💙 REACH toward them.
🌊 Create a RIPPLE.
Then watch what happens when small acts begin moving through a community.
You don't have to change the whole world today.
Just change one moment for one person.
And let it ripple from there.

🌿 Sunday Still Water Reflection 🌿
There are some things we can fix.
Some things we can fight for.
And some things, no matter how deeply we love, hope, pray, explain, or try… we cannot change.
That may be one of the hardest truths to accept.
We cannot change what has already happened.
We cannot make someone understand what they refuse to see.
We cannot force an apology, rewrite someone else's choices, or love another person into becoming who we hoped they would be.
And sometimes, we exhaust ourselves trying.
Acceptance does not mean that what happened was okay.
It does not mean you stop caring.
It does not mean you didn't try hard enough.
Sometimes acceptance simply means realizing:
I cannot change this — but I can choose what I carry forward from it.
There is a quiet kind of freedom in putting down the fight with what already is.
Maybe peace doesn't always come from getting the ending we wanted.
Maybe sometimes it comes from loosening our grip on the things we were never meant to control.
Like still water, we don't have to chase every stone that disturbs our surface.
We can let the ripples move through us.
We can feel them.
Learn from them.
And eventually… become still again.
This week, give yourself permission to release one thing you cannot change.
Not because it didn't matter.
But because you still do.

🌊 SEPTEMBER RIPPLE CHALLENGE — WEEK 3: LISTEN
Week 1, we noticed.
Week 2, we reached.
This week, we listen.
Not to respond.
Not to fix.
Not to compare their story to our own.
Just… listen.
We live in a world where people are constantly communicating, yet so many still feel unheard.
Sometimes someone doesn't need advice.
They need a safe place to say,
"This is hard."
They need someone who doesn't rush them, minimize what they're feeling, or immediately try to make everything better.
They need to know their words matter.
🌊 THIS WEEK'S CHALLENGE: LISTEN
At least once each day, give someone your full attention.
Put down the phone.
Make eye contact.
Ask one more question.
Leave room for the pause.
Listen for what might be underneath the words.
Try asking:
“How are you, really?”
“Do you want to talk about it?”
“What do you need from me right now?”
And when they answer, resist the urge to fix it.
Sometimes the small act is simply staying.
Because being heard reminds us that we are seen.
Being seen reminds us that we matter.
And reminding someone that they matter?
That can create a ripple far beyond the conversation. 🌊
This week, don't just hear.
Listen.

🌿 Sunday Still Water Reflection | September 13 🌿
Still water has a way of showing us what noise often hides.
And maybe one of the reasons so many of us keep parts of ourselves hidden is because we're afraid of what will be said when we aren't in the room.
Most of us have people we call friends. People we laugh with, work beside, confide in, or share pieces of our lives with.
But we've also learned that people talk.
Stories get repeated.
Struggles become conversations.
Choices become opinions.
And sometimes the very things we shared because we needed understanding become the things we're judged for.
So we become careful.
We say “I'm fine” when we're not.
We carry things quietly.
We worry about looking weak, messy, different, or misunderstood.
And that's part of the problem.
We fear the talk.
We fear the opinions.
We fear becoming someone's conversation.
But imagine what could change if we became people others didn't have to fear being human around.
What if friendship wasn't measured by how often we talked about someone, but by how safely they could talk to us?
This Sunday, reflect on the kind of space you create for others.
When someone trusts you with the messy parts of their story, protect them.
When you don't understand someone's choices, choose curiosity before judgment.
When a conversation begins at someone else's expense, have the courage not to participate.
And when it's your life people are talking about, remember:
Their opinion does not get to become your identity.
There will always be noise.
But we get to decide whether we add to it—or become the still water someone desperately needs.
🌊 Be the person people feel safe being real with.
Because sometimes the smallest act of kindness is simply giving another human being a place where their story is safe.

🌊 COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT: BOOMERANG MENTORING 💙
This is the kind of idea that deserves to be seen.
Boomerang Mentoring brings retirees and teens together through hands-on community work—giving young people opportunities to learn practical skills, earn money, build confidence, develop relationships, and discover purpose, while giving retirees an opportunity to share the knowledge and experience they've spent a lifetime building.
And the best part? Our entire community benefits.
Lawn care. Power washing. Painting. Minor repairs. Yard cleanups. Small home projects. Car detailing—and more.
It's more than getting a job done.
It's one generation saying to another, “Let me show you what I know.”
It's a teenager discovering, “I'm capable of more than I realized.”
It's neighbors helping neighbors.
That's how stronger communities are built. ❤️
The Ripple Mission believes deeply in the power of connection, purpose, and small actions that grow into something bigger. Boomerang Mentoring is putting those values into action right here in our community.
Please take a moment to follow their page, share their mission, and help more people learn about what they're building.
When good people doing good work support one another, the ripple gets bigger. 🌊💙
Keep going, Boomerang Mentoring. Our community needs ideas like this.

💛 Some names never leave our hearts. 💛
At the Step Out of the Darkness event, The Ripple Mission created something simple: paper hearts, a marker, and an invitation.
Write their name on a heart.
What happened next was anything but simple.
One by one, people stopped. They chose a heart. They wrote a name.
Some added “I miss you.”
Some wrote “forever loved.”
Some wrote only a name, because sometimes a name carries an entire lifetime of memories.
By the end of the evening, our Remembrance Ripple had become a collection of people.
Not statistics.
Not numbers.
People.
Someone's child. Someone's parent. Someone's sibling. Someone's best friend. Someone whose laugh is still remembered, whose absence is still felt, and whose life still matters.
Each heart was a reminder that when a life is lost to su***de, the ripple doesn't end there. Love continues. Grief continues. Memory continues.
But there can be another ripple, too.
A ripple that says, "we will talk about su***de."
We will notice one another.
We will ask the uncomfortable question.
We will listen.
We will remind people that they don't have to carry everything alone.
And we will keep saying this until everyone believes it:
No one should feel bad for simply existing.
To every person whose name was written on one of these hearts: you were here. You mattered. You are remembered.
And to everyone still here who is fighting a battle others may never see:
Please stay.
You matter.
Your story matters.
Thank you to every person who trusted The Ripple Mission with a name and a piece of their heart. We carried them with us that night, and their ripple continues.
