Roots Before Fruits Friday! At Neuro-Roots we believe in the compounding power of rooted growth and working with foundational aspects to produce good things, like fruits. This week was all about defining what’s happening, being clear on the problem, and taking a minute to figure out where you are going…and we’re putting it all together.

Define a problem, identify a challenge, become aware of an obstacle…and you are already on your way to a solution. It’s really difficult to change something without awareness and when change happens, it can be really important to uncover what internal and external factors keep you stuck, help you move forward, or are impossible to shift. Once awareness of this hits, if change is what you want to see, then you also need to keep moving forward and pair action with that identification. Awareness can get you halfway there and then it’s up to action to carry you the rest of the way. Keep going.
Jump, stop, slow down long enough to take a good look at where you are and where you want to go. You simply cannot blaze a trail forward if you don’t know where to start, you won’t make it very far if you forget to breath along the way, and you definitely will struggle to land where you intended if you neglect to take the time to create the vision and path forward. Here’s your reminder to take a minute to figure out where you are in the journey, reassess what doesn’t make sense, and lean into the moment.

Change begins when we notice something, when our awareness is present enough to acknowledge what is happening. If we take one more step and bring the unconscious into our present moment, examine that, and really get honest about not only the way we feel about something but also the overall state of our nervous system, previous events that may unconsciously dictate present behavior, we can then approach understanding why behavior happens. This is true for individuals and parents alike…and also true whether you are neurotypical or neurodivergent. There is a reason for the reaction, a reason for behavior. Slowing down long enough to identify that and then decide if you want to challenge it is where change begins.
Roots Before Fruits Friday! At Neuro-Roots we believe in the compounding power of rooted growth and working with foundational aspects to produce good things, like fruits. This week was all about fear and action…and we’re putting it all together.

Fear is likely to accompany a lot of the action we take. Many of us hesitate, pause, and sometimes completely stall in making movement towards a goal all because of fear. Waiting for fear to leave often involves more long-term sacrifice than we think. While careful evaluation and caution can help, deciding not to take action out of fear just eliminates a whole lot of possibility and potential outcomes that may be beneficial. The key is to acknowledge the fear, figure out how to proceed safely, and then move forward while carrying the fear…it’s going to be there anyway and the longer you wait, the heavier it becomes.
Get out there…do the things, use limitation as a guide only, take your friends with you, spend some time by yourself, try something new, make it work. You are often the biggest obstacle in your way.

Action delivers. Belief is half of that deal and action is what brings all of those thoughts into a 3-D perspective. You must take a step forward and put beliefs into practice through action to get the follow through, rewards, and goal completion you want.
This can also be incredibly easy or difficult if you are neurodivergent. That is dependent on whether you can tap into hyperfixation or special interests and whether the mundane tasks that often accompany goals get in the way by requiring a lot of motivation. Finding an accountability partner, choosing to use external supports that are in alignment to you and to the goal, and integrating other factors can make a difference in getting to the action stage.
Roots Before Fruits Friday! At Neuro-Roots we believe in the compounding power of rooted growth and working with foundational aspects to produce good things, like fruits. This week was all about failure…and we’re putting it all together.

Success versus failure…failure is something we as humans often think about and fear of failure can keep you from living your life, pursuing your goals, and even learning new skills. Failure, when seen as a guide, can actually improve success. Not only does it teach you your next steps, but it can also create intelligent resiliency that aids in emotional regulation and the ability to maintain perseverant pursuit of your dreams. As long as you don’t let failure define you as a human being, using it as a guide can perpetuate the success that comes next.
