Domestic violence isn’t something that only happens somewhere else, to someone else.

It happens in communities like ours, often quietly without the people around them ever knowing. More than 1 in 3 women and 1 in 6 men in the U.S. have experienced sexual violence, physical violence, and/or stalking by an intimate partner during their lifetime.

They are our neighbors, coworkers, friends, family members, and people we pass every day.

Throughout October, we are raising awareness about the violence and abuse that too often goes unseen. Because awareness starts with recognizing that it happens here, too. You can help raise awareness by participating in Wear Purple Day on October 22nd and by supporting InCourage through sharing posts and visiting our website for more ways to get involved (www.incouragewi.org

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and this year we are thrilled to partner with Uncorked Book Lounge (Two Rivers), Inspire Coffeehouse, Jenn's Java, and The Nook (Manitowoc) to raise awareness in Manitowoc County. Stop by any of these businesses and enjoy a purple drink or shop the window display at Uncorked Book Lounge. Information is available at all participating businesses about InCourage events, services, and volunteer opportunities.
