He dropped in with 4 amazing books (from young readers to adults) and 1 incredible DVD (probably best left to adults), while also managing to squeeze in a mention of Trunk or Treat & Spooktacular Costume Contest. Truth is, especially during Spooky Season, the line between creepy and cute is indistinguisable. One such case would be the Tiny Terrors (Ages 5+) program, which just so happens to be taking place on a day that MPSD classes aren't in session. This summer, teens got together for a library event making mini bookcases, then the adults caught wind and DEMANDED an event for them 🙄. We're mostly kidding on the "demand" part 😜, but we certainly received many enthusiastic comments asking for this to be offered to the 18 & older crowd. We were more than happy to oblige! All smiles! Kids got a behind-the-scenes tour at Festival Foods after our Storytime on the Road today! They learned their colors in the produce department and got the "chills" in the dairy and meat departments! Thanks to this great community partner!

And the Awards Go To—according to those that attended the MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival: You Be the Judge! this Tuesday and Thursday evening, that is:

Best Film—Never Give Up (Mexico)
Best Actor—David Bradley (Life Goes On)

Your votes have been submitted to the festival home office in New York, so check back Monday to see who takes home the Top Honors as voted on by audiences from around the world. And thank you to all those that made their way to the Library to screen this amazing cinematic event!

Cody J. Noha loved the Manitowoc Public Library. But when he died earlier this year at the age of 40, his mother and stepfather wanted to do something to honor him. Cody loved books and was an avid environmentalist, so his family chose to remember him by donating this bench—made of more than 35,000 recycled plastic bags—to our Youth Services department. We thank Cathy Keil and Mike Heier of Manitowoc for their generous donation in his memory.
