This marks the day after I saw the Decemberists perform “Joan in the Garden” their new track as a surprise 20 minute encore. The song refers to historical Joan of Arc and I didnt expect to became obsessed with this folk turned progressive rock epic. I have been listening to (pre-Decemberist) Tarkio’s Omnibus since highschool and to be honest, haven’t really gotten into post-Tarkio Colin Meloy albums until this most recent Decemberists release. Now I can say I like the Decemberists as much as the disbanded Tarkio. It’s funny how things have come full circle like that.
