Former French prime minister Dominique de Villepin called for sanctions against the United States and Israel over their attacks on Iran, condemning the war and urging Europe to take a clear stand. He said, “The Americans are very dependent on us, too. Let’s not underestimate our capabilities. “We say clearly to the United States that their war against Iran is illegal, illegitimate and dangerous,” he added. Villepin rejected claims that the conflict was intended to liberate the Iranian people and warned that the war risks deepening instability across the Middle East.
