Retro Junk

Many of you know me from my business Retro Junk but what you might not know is that I got my start working for my grandfather’s business Farr’s Sporting Goods. I started as a kid wiping down display cases and dusting. I was my grandpa’s shadow and he’s the biggest reason that I now have a successful business of my own. I wish he was here to see all of my hard work but I know that he knows. The best lesson he ever taught me was to take care of the people in my community and I take great pride in doing just that. Sadly, after 70 amazing years of serving the community my family’s business Farr’s Sporting Goods has closed its doors for good. I still haven’t really processed it yet. This place was my second home. Just thought I would share a bit of my life before Retro Junk ❤️

If you grew up in Connecticut from the mid 90’s-2015 there’s a good chance you’ve been to at least 1 New Britain Rock Cats game. If you were lucky you got the see stars like David Ortiz, Torii Hunter and Joe Mauer. Can’t believe I found a ful box of balls and a full box of bats at a local tag sale!! 🙌🏼⚾️

**Update!! Situation has been resolved**

If you happen to know this young man please send us a message. He came in for the first time yesterday and traded in a few switch games for store credit. He came back this morning and patiently waited for me to go into the other room. He then decided to reach over the counter and steal a pink Nintendo DSi. Hoping he shows back up because he still has store credit but we shall see. Any info you have would be greatly appreciated…thank you

Retro Junk has been named “Best Toy Store” by the 2026 Hartford Reader’s Poll!! This was a lifelong dream that turned into a reality. None of it would be possible without the incredible community that has rallied around the shop. Each and every one of you have contributed to our success and I could never thank you all enough.
