What happens when your client has the cutest collection of garden accessories, antique artwork, and a vintage grape chandelier? You get this.

Rather than starting from scratch, we love finding ways to give the pieces our clients have collected a place within the design. Here, baskets, garden finds, antique art, and vintage details bring personality to a hardworking mudroom—and make it feel entirely at home in this Fredericksburg residence.

Repetition creates rhythm.

Here, a series of oversized pendants draws the eye through the passage, while the grid of the windows repeats along either side. Different elements, shapes, and materials, but the repetition gives the architecture a clear visual cadence and leads you naturally toward the room beyond.

It’s one of those design principles that can be felt before it’s consciously noticed.

A Hill Country material palette, refined.

Stacked stone with a German schmear finish, reclaimed white oak flooring, an unlacquered brass faucet, a plastered vent hood, and subtly hand-glazed tile come together in this Fredericksburg kitchen.

The backsplash from ANN SACKS has the quiet irregularity of hand-finished tile, while the Waterworks faucet introduces a living finish that will continue to develop character with time.

It’s a mix of classic Hill Country materials interpreted in a way that feels warm, understated, and at home in its surroundings.

A refresh with a little Austin rhythm.

New wallpaper and paint gave this game room an entirely different energy, with a nod to the city it calls home. As the Live Music Capital of the World, Austin gave us plenty of inspiration — from the guitar on the wall to the collected album covers and a palette with just enough edge.

Sometimes a space doesn’t need to be completely reinvented. A few thoughtful changes can give an existing room an entirely new personality.

A pause to appreciate a really good Dutch door moment.

Equal parts charming and practical, this one has us hoping there are many more Dutch doors in our future.

Planning a home and willing to help us make that happen? We should talk. 😉

Some design principles have endured for a reason.

Contrast is one of them. In this New Jersey laundry room, a classic checkerboard floor brings definition to an otherwise light palette, using a familiar pattern in a way that feels crisp and tailored.

TIPLER Design doesn’t work within one set aesthetic. But across different styles, we return to the principles of design—and to materials, patterns, and proportions that have proven their staying power.
