Anthony Mitchell Jiu Jitsu Studio
Head Instructor is Anthony Mitchell 3rd Degree Jiu Jitsu Blackbelt under Professor Bruno Tank Mendes Successful and positive people are infectious.
Our main focus at our Academy is each and every students progression in and outside of the gym. I truly believe in the life impact Jiu Jitsu can have on a child or persons life for the best. Besides just self-defense, and knowledge, you will lose weight, meet fantastic new friends, and gain massive self confidence just from the atmosphere we have created. My passion for the art and teaching along

Dedicated group with new belts. Still have some guys out of town who weren’t able to attend so more belts to hand out over the next week or so.
You work hard to become proficient at Jiu Jitsu. It’s not easy. You have to be good at wrestling, and Judo to even get to the Jiu Jitsu part…… it takes patience and time. The reward is the confidence you gain, and the relationships you form. The belt is just the cherry on top!!

Big things happen when you make them happen. Lots of medals earned last month, and some new belts for all the hard work.
Anyone knows the hardest belt to get is the next one…. One day you are the hammer and another day your the nail….. most people dont appreciate being the nail.
Adversity and disappointment will always be a better motivator than success.

Charlotte for the second time this year has traveled with her family and found a tournament in the city they were visiting. She didn’t disappoint anyone but her opponents hopes of winning. She went undefeated on the day, and we are so proud of her and thank her parents for being so supportive of her and her brother who is injured from baseball and couldn’t compete. He was there for encouragement and support he’s ready to get back on the mats too!! Congratulations Charlotte!!!!! Hard work paying off!!!!

We took a crew to Baton Rouge this passed weekend for the AGF Tournament there and had some great success. We had alot of wins, and a few losses, we had some cheers and tears…… But Jiu Jitsu doesnt care about feelings it teaches us lessons, and shows us where we need improvement. I’m always proud of how hard these kids fight and their talent. I’m quickly becoming more impressed with how they recover from setbacks. Mentally tough and confident kids do not get bullied.
One of our Grey Belt Gangsters Hutch Yazbeck was handing out some free flight lessons yesterday in Baton Rouge at American Grappling Federation.

I have wanted the Black One Roof Trophy since it became a thing for AGF. This trophy signifies that you won the Overall Team Title with one Academy. Not 3-4 grouping up as an association and combining points. We have been extremely grateful to every association we’ve had the privilege of competing with, but to win with just your team is a different feeling. Thank you to all of my students that competed, and especially the ones who showed up and helped them prepare. This trophy is for the entire academy!!!!! Each student got their OWN medals for what they accomplished…… but WE all accomplished this!!!!!

Saturday was the AGF Jackson Championships and our team absolutely killed it. We had some great wins and tough losses but showed excellent Jiu Jitsu in both. Our Kids Team won 1st Place in NoGi and in the Gi. Then the Adults took the mats and kept the same energy winning both 1st Place in NoGi and Gi. Our Academy won Best One Roof Academy. Thank you to the athletes, coaches, and parents who make moments like these possible.
