Need something mended? Check The Goodman Community Center on Wednesdays!
Starting June 5, our menders will be here every Wednesday evening from 5:30-7:30pm!
Bring in your loose buttons, torn clothes and long hems! A group of talented volunteers will be offering their sewing skills to anyone in need of fabric mending. This service is free and open to all (no general pantry use required).
Notable exception: No zipper repairs.

Moving 20 minutes a day can have many health benefits for the elderly, including:
Reduced risk of illness: Seniors who walk 20 minutes a day, five days a week, are less likely to get sick and have fewer sick days than people who don't exercise.
Reduced risk of heart disease: Walking 20 minutes a day can reduce the risk of heart disease by up to 30%. Brisk walking can provide similar benefits to running for reducing cholesterol, blood pressure, and diabetes.
Improved immune function: Walking can improve immune function in seniors.
Weight management: Exercise can help with weight management.
Improved sleep: Exercise can improve sleep.
The CDC recommends that adults 65 and older get at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic physical activity each week. This could be 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week.

We don't want to think about it, but having dedicated emergency contacts and info listed is very helpful if an unforeseen event does occur. Another consideration to cover in our upcoming November 13 program at the library community room. We will give away First Aid Kits. Would you like us to bring some File of Life info magnets too?
