The idea for a store specializing exclusively in stools originated with Jack Hernan. Jack’s family has been creating innovative kitchens in Madison for over 50 years. The whole thing started when Jack was visiting Europe on one of his frequent buying trips. While there he identified the trend toward island and peninsula counter eating areas in European kitchens long before the trend was popular in the United States. He began showing the idea in his kitchen showroom and accessorized the counters with high design stools. Customers began asking if they could buy the stools so Jack utilized the retail space next to his showroom and The Stool Store was born. For almost 15 years we have been providing customers not only with the largest selection of stools, but the highest level of customer service in the United States.

I had spent hours online, looking at stools from high-end to budget. I was hesitating though, as reviews I had read about people having a hard time putting together, about having to pay to ship back, and about them not being comfortable. And shipping costs… So when I happen to drive by the Stool Store, I popped in. Heaven! I could actually sit on the stools, feel the fabric, and realize that there’s a big comfort difference between the half back and taller height back. I found the perfect stools. Staff was great, when I was trying to decide, they sent me info, took measurements for me. Easiest and best shopping I have done in a long time.
We will be closing early today so staff can get home safely. Should you visit tomorrow for the best seating around? Hail yes!
