Indie welcomes back local poet Thor Ringler tomorrow (Thursday Feb. 12) at 6:30. Join us for this free poetry reading with a little storytelling mixed in. Thor heads up the VA’s national project, “My Life, My Story.” He’ll be reading some new work.

Red alert! We’re opening at 8 AM tomorrow and Saturday due to the frigid temperatures. Then on Sunday, it’ll be back to our regularly scheduled programming. Stay warm out there folks!

Come one, come all! You will find some total classics in our little library today. Plus this 50° weather gives you a chance to sit outside on our sunny patio in January!

Under the category of “better late than never,” we have T-shirts! This photo shows the exact location. We have both unisex and fitted. They make great gifts! Incidentally, pounds of coffee and gift cards are also excellent gifts, as they always fit and don’t need a place for deep storage.

What a beautiful (and crazy!) winter day! If you are out and about, stop in for one of our winter specialty drinks, like the snowshoe mocha (pumpkin and Ghirardelli white chocolate) or the candy cane latte (vanilla and mint latte, topped with real crushed candy cane)! Both pair well with an afternoon waffle snack. Warm up and take a nice little adventure on a snowy day! (If you can do it safely, of course.)

Don’t forget to be here by 5 o’clock if you wanna try our special Thanksgiving drink, the turkey giblet latte! OK, just kidding. That is a very old joke we keep telling every year. But seriously we are introducing holiday drinks so be sure to stop by today or this weekend to get that holiday glow going. Incidentally, we are closing at 5 o’clock today, and will be closed Thursday and Friday this week. Enjoy your holiday, and we’ll see you on Saturday when we restart our regular hours!

Please contribute to Neighborhood House’s Thanksgiving basket program! Every year, our neighborhood’s wonderful community center provides more than 400 baskets to Madison families in need. Each basket contains a turkey and all the ingredients needed to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving meal! There are three days left for you to pop in to Indie with cranberry sauce, stuffing, mac & cheese, whatever you might have extra on your shelves. Or if you’re buying some for your own family, pick up a few extras and bring them on in! Our collection box is under the fireplace mantle. Spread the love!

Maybe it’s the Indie ghost, or maybe it’s the tech goblins. But when it comes to ones and zeros, we’ve had some bad luck lately. Our online store has been haunted for the last two or three days, but I believe it’s all fixed up now. Please don’t be afraid to go back on: www.shopindiecoffee.com. Also, our on-site Internet has been up and down recently with all the bulldozers and other heavy machinery wreaking havoc where Jensen‘s auto used to be. We also believe that is fixed.
