Have you ever seen someone with their dog and thought, "That dog fits them perfectly."

You're probably wondering why a map company is talking about dogs.
Stick with us for a minute - we promise it'll all make sense.

Meet "Dingo", our little company mascot.

She is an 11 year old Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler: tough, intelligent, fiercely loyal, and yes...incredibly stubborn but with a heart of gold.
Australian Cattle Dogs were bred to lead cattle through rugged country, always showing the way.
Kind of like our maps do!

Tough news: back in March, she was diagnosed with insulinoma, a type of pancreatic cancer that affects insulin production. It was difficult news, but true to her nature, she's continued to push forward with grit, determination, and a nub that keeps on wagging.

Just after Dingo's diagnosis, we received some unexpected news of our own.
The mapping app we've relied on for more than 12 years - Avenza Maps - made changes that meant it was time for CartoTracks to evolve. Just like Dingo, we had a choice: dwell on the setback.... or adapt and keep moving forward.
We chose the second option!
Today, we're excited to share a major announcement marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for CartoTracks.

It's been a busy summer behind the scenes at CartoTracks.
For the past several months, we've been working closely with both an app developer and our web developer to build something we've wanted to offer for a long time.
We're excited to announce that next week we'll officially introduce a brand-new app for CartoTracks customers!
This isn't just a replacement for downloading your maps—it's a major upgrade that brings features we've never been able to offer before.

Here's what you'll get:

✅ FREE for all CartoTracks customers to access the maps you've subscribed to.

✅ Apple CarPlay support for easier navigation on the road.

✅ Works across nearly every device—iPhone, Android, iPad, Apple CarPlay, Mac, Apple Watch, and even Apple Vision Pro.

✅ Desktop access! View your maps in any web browser, plan trips ahead of time, organize your adventures, and add your own notes before you ever leave home.

✅ Optional premium upgrades are available directly within the app if you want features like property ownership (parcel) data, additional base maps, and expanded aerial imagery.

✅ Your CartoTracks account comes with you. Once you connect your account, you'll immediately see all of your subscribed maps in one place and can even reorder how they appear in your list in the app so your most-used maps are always at the top.

We've been testing this new platform extensively, and we think you're going to love it!

Due to a decision by the current leadership of the DBBB, they have chosen to move in a different direction for their mapping platform.
While that decision was outside of our control, our commitment to serving riders hasn't changed.
For now, we'll continue to maintain and support the current CartoTracks DBBB map, which remains the most accurate representation of the official route available today. Existing subscribers can continue to download and use the map as they always have.
Will this be the final edition? At this point, we simply don't know. If anything changes in the future, we'll be sure to keep our customers informed. We will of course honor any active subscriptions so if you subscribe today, we'll continue to support your subscription until it expires.
In the meantime, we're proud to continue supporting everyone who relies on the CartoTracks DBBB map for their travels.

Changes are coming soon with Avenza Maps that will affect our customers.

For 12 years we've sold maps through our website that download into the Avenza Maps app.
Avenza recently announced some ***important changes*** to the free version of their viewer app "Avenza Maps". We know that many of you use this free version which is currently limited to using 3 imported maps such as those you get from our CartoTracks map store. Avenza has recently chosen to change that limit to ***zero*** which means that very soon you will no longer be able to view any maps you got from CartoTracks using the free version of the Avenza Maps app.

We're learning about this at the same time you are, and we're disappointed with Avenza's decision on this and their extremely short notice on a change that affects so many of you.

Many of you use the paid Avenza Maps Plus version (which costs about $35/year from Avenza) and are able to use up to 20 of our maps in the app. If this is you, this change should not affect you and you can still use Avenza Maps Plus to view maps you got from our CartoTracks map store. We want to know how many of you are using the Plus version already, hence this survey.

We're addressing what this means for the community of CartoTracks customers and we're exploring all options that will allow you to continue to use our premium quality maps.
