Welcome to a new kind of Veteran Service Dog Organization
About half of veterans say one of the hardest parts of leaving the military is the loss of a sense of purpose, and nearly as many say they miss their connection to the military community. The military provides a structure that decides when you wake up, what you wear, what you eat, how you spend your day, and losing that can leave people feeling adrift.
As our Community and Programs Manager, Jenn is not just handing veterans a new map. She’s helping them find their own north star, figure out how they want to grow, and build their path from there.
When you’re lacking purpose, that’s a moment to be of service.
At Sierra Delta, that has looked like showing up for new members, spreading the word about our programs, joining our team of community leaders, and even hosting a local meetup for veterans.
We appreciate every member in this community who is finding ways to take the lead, for themselves, for Sierra Delta, for other veterans, and for every community they’re part of.
Sierra Delta is one option to do this, but it’s not the only way. Find yours, whatever that looks like, and go be of service.
We’re learning that purpose isn’t something you wait for. It’s something that comes when you take action.

Lis Dew applied to program after program to apply for a service dog and kept hearing no.
Swipe through her story and see how a Life Buddy grant can impact a veteran’s life.

If you’re starting from zero, a lot. If you already have the dog or would be open to adopting one, there’s a more accessible solution.
You can apply for a grant, find a local trainer, and start your journey with ASAP.
$3,500 covers a trainer who already knows your town, your vet, and can meet your dog nearby. It doesn’t cover a facility that’s never met either of you. That’s the entire reason the number looks so different from what you’d find searching “service dog cost.”
And that’s why Sierra Delta can deploy funding faster and more effectively than anyone else.

18 holes ⛳️🏌🏾♂️one mission, and a room full of people who showed up for it.
Our annual Golf Classic at Silver Spring Country Club wasn’t just a good time, it was proof of how many people are willing to put their support behind veterans and their dogs.
To everyone who played, sponsored, bid, or just showed up to cheer us on: thank you 💙 This community shows up loud, and this tournament was proof of it.
See you next year!

100 isn’t just a nice number we picked for the post, it’s the actual count of veterans we helped this year by funding the training of their dog. How much dog food is bought this September can determine how many more we get to help!
Head to Walmart, find the display or the dog food aisle, and grab a small bag of BLUE Life Protection Formula or Nudges from blue buffalo.
If you’re feeling generous, snap a photo and tag us so we can keep spreading the word.
Are you in?

A dog that clocks who someone really is before anyone else bothers to… sound familiar?
We watch a version of that play out constantly in our community. Not the epic poem part, but the part where a dog recognizes the person underneath on a day they can’t even recognize themselves.
Did you also think The Odyssey is a good metaphor for what we do?

We’ve helped over a 100 veterans this year. You can help us get to 200.
Buy a small bag of BLUE Life Protection Formula from Blue Buffalo at your local Walmart to contribute 50 cents to Sierra Delta’s mission: support those who served by providing access to dog training grants, meaningful service opportunities, and a community built around purpose and companionship.
The money you spend on your dog’s food can help a Veteran.
Every photo you share helps us spread the word!
Let’s hit that $600K goal!
