🎉 Today is day 3 of our Summer Reading Kickoff week! Take a look at these pictures of kickoff parties from across our library system!
🦕 Patrons at the Jones County Library were visited by the William P. Wall Museum of Natural History at Georgia College's Ashley Quinn, who showed them prehistoric fossils up close and taught about the animals they belonged to.
🌱 At the Montezuma Public Library, patrons got to explore Georgia history with the Atlanta History Center Travel Trunk, and learned about the importance of agriculture in our state.
🦖 At the Shurling Library, kids worked together to build a Triceratops skeleton! Once the skeleton was complete, everyone enjoyed snacks and a reading of If I Had a Triceratops by George O’Connor.
📝 Don’t forget, listening to a story time at your library counts towards your Summer Reading minutes, so be sure to add them to your reading log or in the Beanstack app!

🎓🥳 Congratulations to this year’s graduating class of the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program!
Every year we celebrate the success of pre-school aged children who log reading books, listening to story times, and practicing literacy skills 1,000 times with a graduation ceremony at Washington Memorial Library.
Graduates received a certificate of completion, a commemorative t-shirt, and their choice of a book to take home!
This program, also known as 1KB4K, is proven to help children ages 0 to 5 develop vocabulary and language skills critical to their success in school, and supports their ability to learn to read. We appreciate the Junior League of Macon for supporting this program.
You can register your child for 1KB4K by picking up a reading log at your local MGRL branch, or through the Beanstack App. To learn more, visit bibblib.org/1kb4k
