With the Reading Paws program, kids can sign up to practice Print Literacy and boost their confidence by reading aloud to a therapy dog.

Whether you’re a small business owner or aspiring entrepreneur, the Washington Memorial Library’s Business and Nonprofit Center (BANC) can help you reach your goals. Join us on Wednesday, October 7 at 6:00 PM for a Small Business Financial Literacy workshop presented by SparkMacon. Discover how you can grow your business, attract new customers, and expand into new markets at any level of your small business journey.

Kids can stop by the Bloomfield Library on Thursday, October 8 from 5:00 to 6:00 PM for After School STEM, where we’ll have engaging activities that teach Print and Tech Literacy through fun and play. See what you can create with Legos, listen to a story, play games with friends, test out virtual reality, learn how to draw your favorite characters, and more!

Get in the spirit of spooky season at the Gordon Public Library with a Halloween themed Storytime and Craft for kids on Friday, October 9 from 5:00 to 6:00 PM. Library staff will read a not-so-scary story, then show kids ways to get creative with a fall craft to encourage Print Literacy.

This event is free to attend for job seekers of all ages, or anyone interested in learning more about taking steps towards employment.

Kids can have fun practicing Print Literacy at Washington Memorial Library with Mad Libs of Misadventures! Drop in on Tuesday, September 29 from 4:30 to 5:30 PM, where kids will think of interesting words to fill in the blanks of a mystery story and see what silly adventures unfold!

Join us for a Health Literacy class for adults at the Marshallville Library from 1:00 to 2:00 PM on Wednesday, September 30, where you’ll learn how making simple choices like what food to eat or getting regular exercise can help improve your health.

Teens can also learn about Health Literacy during Teen Club from 3:30 to 5:30 PM at the Hancock Branch on Thursday, October 1. Learn all about fall vegetables including how to plan for a garden, what materials you’ll need, how to grow your veggies, and different ways you can use them in salads! You can even take home seeds and plants from this program to help get your very own garden started!
