We need a quick thinking, pleasant, well-spoken person to assist in our office in the afternoons Monday-Thursday (some Fridays may be required).

As we begin a new school year, one of the biggest things we encourage parents to do is KNOW YOUR CHILD’S IEP! 📚🗣️

As Speech-Language Pathologists, we’ve seen firsthand how important it is for parents to understand exactly what is written in their child’s plan.

Know the goals being addressed.
Know how often services should be provided. Know the accommodations and supports your child is entitled to receive, and don’t be afraid to ask questions when something isn’t clear or when you’re unsure whether something is being implemented.

Your child’s IEP should not be a document that you only see once a year at the meeting. Use it. Review it. Ask about it.

Parents are an important part of the IEP team. Stay informed, communicate with your child’s teachers and therapists, and advocate when necessary.

When families and professionals work together, our children have a much better opportunity to thrive! 💙

Know the plan. Know the services. Know your rights, so you can be a strong advocate for your child.
