If you’ve ever wondered what happens to the unsung heroes of American music, this episode is for you.
When Tim Duffy and I first met at Adam’s Lounge years ago, I knew he was doing work that truly mattered. Through the Music Maker Foundation he isn't just archiving blues and gospel history, he’s making sure the living legends who created it have food, housing, and healthcare so their music never dies.
In Episode 16 of Stuck on Sound, we sit down to talk field recordings, the quiet magic of the rural South, the threat of AI to real human art, and why music remains our ultimate source of hope.

The only thing better than 1 Mojave Audio MA-D is 6 MA-Ds!!! Proud to say, I was an early adopter of these amazing microphones! They sound phenomenal and at a price point that any artist can afford! Excited to see the great article in FRONT of HOUSE magazine about “Mojave Mics on Tour” - read at link in comments!

Years ago, Tim Duffy and I met in a room that just breathed real music, Adam’s Lounge right here in Georgia. Reconnecting with him for Episode 16 of Stuck on Sound reminded me why we fall in love with this craft in the first place.
Tim co-founded the Music Maker Foundation to do something extraordinary: preserve the raw, soulful voices of traditional American roots, blues, and gospel musicians while ensuring these incredible artists have their basic daily needs met so they can just keep creating. We dive deep into his decades of field recordings, forgotten juke joints, and the hidden musical genius tucked away in the rural South.
We don't pull any punches either. We talk about the harsh realities facing modern artists today, from collapsing business models and social media overload to AI disruption and the fight for a sustainable career. But through it all, the true heart of this conversation is hope. Music isn't just content; it’s healing, purpose, and a way of restoring dignity to those who give us their souls through song.
This one is about friendship, service, and the belief that America’s greatest treasures are often found far from the spotlight.

Ditch the blueprint.
When people step into the studio, the temptation is always there to "pick a lane" or chase whatever trend is currently blowing up the algorithms but I believe authenticity matters so much more than fitting into a genre.
Trying to fit into a pre-made box might get you quick plays, but deeply authentic work is what actually builds stronger, long-term connections with the people listening to your music. Your individuality isn't a distraction, it's your superpower.
At Shadow Sound Studio, we aren't here to force you into a lane. We're here to help you capture your true, unfiltered sound.
