So very often I read posts herein where the subscriber claims to be down on their luck. They ask for help with rent, utilities, gas or personal hygiene items or pet food. Or they need to buy more minutes for their cell phone. Often they provide cashapp or venmo details. Oftentimes they seem to ignore responses from well-meaning neighbors who post lists of organizations that can help. Oftentimes they don't respond by giving an address where items can be brought to them, even if it's a private message or a well-traveled parking lot. Just be aware of who you're communicating with and if you are comfortable sending money blindly in what you feel is a generous and kind gesture. Let's hope I am wrong in the above assumptions. As we get closer to the holidays I believe we will see many more posts as I described, along with Christmas lists consisting of bikes and computers and phones and video games, and, of course, cashapp and venmo information.
