Long before Nightmare on 19th Street, one haunted house stuck with me: the old Lubbock Jaycees Haunted House at the South Plains Fairgrounds.
It wasn’t fancy. It didn’t need to be.
Black walls, sheets, UV paint, and actors who knew exactly when to make you jump.
Twenty years into building haunted houses myself, I appreciate that even more now. Great scares aren’t always about how much money you spend.
