Honoring Rachmaninoff: Happy 153rd birthday (April 1, 1873).
Playing his Op. 32 No. 5 on a singing Fazioli in a space that lets it breathe.

Carboncillo No. 1, perhaps my shortest composition.
A brief gesture, distilled. Like charcoal on paper: direct, raw, and immediate.

There is a longer version of the piece, but this is the one I return to most often.

Live from a recent recital at Texas Tech University. 🎶

I am delighted to share my composition “Corrente.”

Inspired by the Baroque dance Corrente, the piece reimagines this lively form through a 21st century Cuban lens, where tradition, rhythm, and new sonorities enter into dialogue across time.

Commissioned and performed by the Toomai Quintet.

Premiered in April 2024 at the Americas Society in New York City.

Last weekend I had the joy of performing the piano trios of Anton Arensky and Claude Debussy, along with the Scherzo from my own Piano Trio, with dear friends Jorge I. Gonzalez and Khari Joyner. We also brought the passion of Franz Liszt & Astor Piazzolla to the stage as part of the Chamber Music Series of the Mississippi Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra. -- ✨Grateful for music and friendship... 🎶 💫

Some years ago, while performing at a Chopin Festival in Poland, I visited Chopin’s birthplace in Żelazowa Wola. He and I had a little talk 😉. I asked him for permission to perform his pieces well at the festival. It went well!

Happy Birthday, Frédéric! 🎂🎶

Three world-class artists. One unforgettable night.

The Mississippi Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra proudly presents “A Trio’s Tale” - an evening of breathtaking artistry featuring internationally acclaimed performers whose careers span Carnegie Hall, Juilliard, Latin Grammy nominations, and collaborations with legends like Itzhak Perlman, Yo-Yo Ma, and Paquito D’Rivera.

Embark on a musical journey told through the voice of a trio with violin, piano, and cello as they explore the elegance of classical tradition, the passion of Piazzolla’s tango, and the expressive power that transcends genres.

Dr. Jorge I. Gonzalez – Concertmaster, conductor, and global soloist who has performed across Europe, South America, and the U.S., and collaborated with some of the most celebrated musicians of our time.

Adonis Gonzalez – Latin Grammy–nominated pianist, composer, and conductor who has appeared at Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall and performed with major orchestras around the world.

Khari Joyner – Juilliard DMA graduate described by The New York Times as “eloquently plangent,” who has performed for Presidents and alongside major U.S. orchestras.

This is a rare opportunity to experience artists of international caliber right here on the Gulf Coast.

Join us for an evening of tradition, tango, and transcendence!

Grateful for a wonderful visit to Texas Tech University.

I am sincerely thankful for the invitation to present a recital, lead a master class, and serve as a judge for the concerto competition at Texas Tech University. It was a pleasure to work with such dedicated and talented students, and to experience the high level of artistry and commitment within the piano department.

My sincere thanks to Dean Dr. Martin Camacho and to the Head of the Piano Department, Dr. Daniel del Pino, for their generosity, hospitality, and support.

Congratulations to the concerto competition winner, Elias Manzo, and to the runner-up, Artur Mikhlin, for their excellent performances and musicianship.

Here are a few post-event pictures!
