This is one of the largest rug I’ve made so far. 9 ft. 👀

Acrylic yarn. AK-2 14mm cut pile. 🧶

It was created as set decor for the 20th Century Studios/Disney film Ella McCay (produced by James L. Brooks, the brains behind so many classics including The Simposons)

The movie premiered yesterday. 🙌🏾

Seeing it on screen was surreal. Knowing it now lives in the Disney archives still doesn’t feel real. 😮

This project was a lot:

• 28 hours tufting
• One 13-hour day on the gun (never again)
• ~75 hours trimming, carving, binding
• Florida -> Rhode Island -> Florida delivery run (evil)

Big lessons:

• Order yarn in bulk
• Don’t rush large rugs
• A 4K projector is a cheat code
• Instabind is clutch if you don’t have a serger

Started this a few days after losing my mom. Pouring the work into something physical helped more than I expected. I wish she was here to see it 💔 🕊
