The best time to install sod is typically early fall or spring! 🌱

For the Pacific Northwest, early fall is especially great because cooler temperatures and consistent moisture help new sod establish strong roots without the stress of summer heat.

Sod can be installed during summer, but it requires much more frequent watering to keep it from drying out.

Healthy hedges should generally have rich, vibrant green foliage, but the exact shade depends on the plant variety.

If a hedge that is normally green starts turning pale green or yellow, it can sometimes signal:

-Too much or too little water
-Nutrient deficiencies
-Poor drainage
-Pest or disease issues
-Seasonal changes

Landscaping tip: Pay more attention to a change in your hedge’s normal color than to one specific shade of green. If it suddenly looks lighter, patchy, yellow, or brown, it may be telling you something!

Most hedges benefit from trimming 2–3 times per year, but it depends on the type of hedge and how quickly it grows. 🌿

Fast-growing hedges may need attention every 4–6 weeks during the growing season, while slower-growing varieties might only need trimming once or twice a year.

Regular trimming isn’t just about looks, it encourages fuller growth, helps maintain the hedge’s shape, and removes dead or damaged branches.
