Repost from SAPD:

Using Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) technology, detectives identified the vehicle involved and an associated address in the City of Anaheim.

This morning, SAPD detectives arrested 75-year-old Hahn Nguyen, who admitted to owning and abandoning her 9-month-old pit bull, "Blackey." Detectives also located the vehicle parked inside her garage.

Nguyen was booked at the Santa Ana Jail for Penal Code 597(a)-Animal Cruelty and 597s(a)-Animal Abandonment.

Thank you to everyone who shared this incident and contacted SAPD to offer support. Investigative leads, primarily using ALPR technology, helped detectives identify the vehicle, locate the suspect, and bring accountability for Blackey.

‼️VIEWER DISCRETION IS ADVISED‼️ ANIMAL ABUSE CASE: Deceased 9-month old, male, black-and-white Pitbull mix.
On September 8th, SAPD Animal Services responded to the area of 900 W. Park Lane regarding a deceased black-and-white male pit bull mix that appeared to have been run over. A nearby resident reported seeing a minivan parked near the location and believed the female driver intentionally ran over the puppy.
Over the course of several weeks, Animal Services and officers canvassed the area for surveillance video. They located video that corroborated the reporting party's statement of the incident.
At approximately 9:15 a.m., an older, blue or green Honda Odyssey with a roof rack was parked in front of 926 W.
Park Lane. The woman removed the puppy from the minivan, placed it under the vehicle, put dog food near the driver's door, and slowly drove forward as the puppy approached the food. The puppy was then run over by the rear driver's side tire, and the vehicle remained stopped on top of the puppy for approximately 15 seconds before leaving northbound on Lowell Street.
Sadly, the puppy succumbed to his injuries, and his remains were secured. The video did not capture a readable license plate so we're really asking for the public's help.
If you have any information that could help identify the woman and/or vehicle, please contact us at (714) 245-8378.
