Today the Dominican Republic celebrates 173 years of our Independence. Our founding fathers fought with all their might and declared our country free and independent from any foreign nation. Happy Independence Day!!

Today Dominicans all over the world celebrate the birth of one of our founding fathers:

Juan Pablo Duarte Díez (January 26, 1813 – July 15, 1876) is one of the founding fathers of the Dominican Republic. He was a visionary and liberal thinker, who along with Francisco del Rosario Sánchez and Matías Ramón Mella, is widely considered to be the architect of the Dominican Republic and its independence from Haitian rule in 1844. He would help create the political organization La Trinitaria to fight against the Haitian occupation, achieve independence, and create a self-sufficient nation.

The DSA invites you to their 2017 Opening Social! Come and join us for a good time, Dominican dancing, music and food!! Everyone is invited! This is an open event, so you can bring a friend or two or more!
