My friends Tim, Tom, Barry and I searched for the location of this 1867 Weaver photo for many years. We knew it was Gettysburg but not where, specifically. After the better part of a decade, Tom Danninger located the spot on the rightly northeast face of the Devil’s Kitchen (just east of the Big Round Top Parking lot). This then became by 23 years the oldest known photo taken at the kitchen, which served for just minutes as the 44th New York’s skirmish line. I popped out with some photo nerds today and recorded this side by side shot near Weaver’s camera location. Wider pic in the comments. I secured a copy of the old view many years ago from Sue Boardman.

SLATED FOR DEMO: General Pickett’s Buffet, a longtime restaurant site on Steinwehr Avenue in Gettysburg, has been recommended by HARB (Historical Architectural Review Board) to be demolished and replaced by a path and interpretive signs about the adjoining site of Pickett’s Charge. Anyone have any stories about visiting General Pickett's?
