Congratulations to Apollo’s national competitors and Ohio state champions! These students proudly represented Apollo Career Center at the National SkillsUSA Championships in Atlanta.
While they did not bring home medals this year, their accomplishments are extraordinary, and we could not be prouder. They stepped outside their comfort zones, overcame challenges, demonstrated resilience, and proved that growth and success come in many forms.
National Competitors:
• Keegan Davis (Junior) – 17th Place, CNC Programming
• Noah Moye (Junior) – 13th Place, Masonry
• Addie Wilver (Junior) – 19th Place, Early Childhood Education
• Leah Johnson (Senior) – 21st Place, Job Skills Demonstration Open.
For the junior competitors, this achievement is even more remarkable. They have been training in their career programs for just 176 school days at 2.5 hours per day—approximately 440 total hours, or only 55 eight-hour workdays. That is less than the length of a typical 90-day probationary period at a new job.
In just 55 working days, these students progressed from learning the basics of their trades—whether CNC programming, writing lesson plans, or properly splitting bricks with a masonry hammer—to competing on the national stage against the best students in the country.
A special thank you to Mike Dicke, Advanced Manufacturing instructor, and Shane Allemeier, HVAC instructor, for traveling with and advising our students throughout this incredible experience. Info and pics submitted by Mike Dicke.

🎓 Tara Shepherd has seen firsthand how education can change the course of a life.
In this episode of Women in the Driver’s Seat, we sit down with the Director of Adult Education at Apollo Career Center to talk about career training, workforce development, and the opportunities available to adult learners at every stage of life.
💙 Tara shares how Apollo helps students become "next ready" through programs that lead to meaningful careers. From earning a GED to completing industry certifications and apprenticeships, she has witnessed the life changing impact education can have on individuals, families, and entire communities.
One story in particular still inspires her today: hearing a child proudly shout "Go, Mom!" as a graduate crossed the stage after earning her GED and completing nursing training. Moments like that are a reminder that it is never too late to learn, grow, and achieve your goals.
