I sit down and talk with a retired judge about her experiences, what the job is like, what judges look for when making decisions and helpful advice. It is a great insight to the mystery of the black robe wearers.
A Judge Speaks by Law Rapp In this episode, I speak with retired Family Court Judge Lucinda Masterton. We talk about things judges experience, look for and unique aspects of being the one in the black robe. We also talk about things clients can do to help themselves and advice she would give to people going through the court....

Nothing mysterious or cryptic. Either co-counsel or Diddy was too much a PITA to deal with. With a big $$$ case like this, one would assume it was pretty awful.
Diddy faces fresh crisis as his lawyer Tony Ricco quits rapper's case In a motion for withdraw of counsel filed in the state of New York on Thursday, Tony Ricco quit from Diddy's case.

Quick story, but some background first. So, in addition to handling Family Law and Criminal Law matters, I also handle appeals. In a very general sense, an appeal occurs after a judgment/final order in a case that you (or the other side) disagrees with. The matter then gets appealed, by the complaining party, to an appellate court. in Kentucky, this is usually the Kentucky Court of Appeals (usually). There are attorneys in Lexington and elsewhere that send their clients to me who have matters that are going up on appeal. I also obviously handle appellate matters for my own clients.
I just got done drafting an appellate brief in a criminal appeal matter out of federal court where I was not the attorney at trial. The appeal was to the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. This is one step below the United States Supreme Court. The "brief" (a misnomer if there ever was one) was around fifty pages and contained three main arguments.
My client read it and immediately called his mom. She called me to say that he said that I, "really showed out with this." Given that she sounded happy, I assume that is a good thing. Input to my read on the situation is welcomed.
