A lot of us have had it wrong for a while now...

thinking if we shrank ourselves down, lost weight, we would all of a sudden love ourselves again, walking with our heads held higher

while there is an ounce of truth to it, the bigger truth is we feel better when we accomplish things. when we step into ourselves, defying the odds and doing big things with others who see US for WHO we are, cheering us on like we just won the Olympics

Yea, massive run on sentence, but it's loaded with truth

Y'all....meet Kuenzie. He real name is Amy but this is what I call her!

Kuenzie joined StrongHER a bit ago and since the daaaaaay she joined has brought nothing but JOY to the weight floor.

As our resident artist she has showcased a her skills with artsy and thoughtful gifts and funky hair all while smiling through the most treacherous of workouts

She quickly integrated into the fold, establishing a camaraderie most gyms dream of

Every time she walks in, the team, the members, myself, know it will be a great day!

Iron is Ageless and our 60+ class is proving that age is just a number, like the number on your back squat, or deadlift, or bench press.

As women age, we need MORE resistance training, not less!

Research is starting to overflow (including inside the gym) that women who consistently lift weights 3x a week see an improvement in:

* bone density
* balance

Let me clear one thing up first...we do think fat loss (not weight) matters.

There is a shift, the 90s returning, where the focus is being as small as you can be as breakthrough, metabolism supportive medications such as GLP-1s have hit the market.

And thank the good lord for them! So many women need the reset it gives their organs, hormones, and soul!

BUT, we are seeing the focus shifting towards skinny vs strong.

There is a huge danger in this as we are seeing women lose up to 40% of their muscle, a 60% decline in bone density, and an increase in eating disorders, all in the name of being...skinny...

Btw, those numbers are in women YOUNGER than 50....some even younger than 40. THIS IS SCARY!

At StrongHER, we support smart usage of GLP-1s and other modalities to reduce body fat, so long as we are working to increase lean muscle mass (no, not being bulky) as muscle mass means your metabolism is higher, cellular repair is higher, hormones are balanced and you are healthy.

This comes from focusing on being STRONG. Weight training, not bands, weights.

Not only are parents saying their daughters are performing better in their sports (competitive dance, cheer, softball, and sprinting)

They're telling us they see their kiddos walking, talking, moving, with more confidence. Smiling more. Doing more around the house.

Our girls need a place to feel good about themselves. To be poured into. Nurtured and empowered.

Especially in todays world full of comparison and negativity.
