June is Aphasia Awareness Month. ๐ง And awareness changes everything. Inclusion cannot happen without education. People cannot support what they don't understand. Every share. Every conversation. Every post. It matters more than you know.
Here's a glimpse at my day as ARC's Director:
โ Made my morning tea. (Skipping the bike ride โ took a fall last week after slipping on a file folder! Healing up. ๐ค)
๐บ Earlier this month โ I did a TV news spot to bring aphasia awareness to our community. Aphasia deserves to be known.
๐ฅ Reviewed video edits for a brand new series launching next year. Mission: I AM Possible. We cannot wait to share this with you.
๐ Deep in the heart of our June Aphasia Awareness Month webinars. So much good content. So many lives touched.
๐คซ Prepped for an important meeting. Something BIG is coming for people with aphasia. We held TWO focus groups to make sure we got it right. We listen. Because you matter. And met with the graphic artist to discuss the logo for the new program! Exciting!
โค๏ธ Thought about our aphasia family.
Someone shared this week: "I have met many people with aphasia thanks to ARC. I'm not alone." That's why we do this work.
Aphasia affects 2+ million Americans. ๐ง Most people have never heard of it. You can change that. Share this post.
What does YOUR day look like?
Drop a โ or โค๏ธ below. We'd love to know.

๐ A book written by our own ARC family. After stroke, questions come fast. What now?
Will they get better? What can I do?
Healing the Broken Brain was written to answer those questions โ clearly, simply, and with real hope.
It was written by our founder, David Dow, his brother Dr. Mike Dow, and speech-language pathologist Megan Sutton.Together, they answer 100 of the most common questions about stroke recovery.
๐ What makes it special:
โ
Written by top stroke and aphasia experts
โ
Easy to read and understand
โ
Short answers with key takeaways at the end of each chapter
โ
Covers therapy, aphasia, diet, prevention โ and more
โ
Made for survivors AND the people who love them
This book was born from real experience.
Because our founder David lived this journey with his family.
He couldn't find the answers he needed โ so he helped write them.
Have you read it? What questions mattered most to you?

Healing doesn't happen alone. It happens when someone says "me too."
It happens when someone shows up. It happens here. ๐
If ARC has been part of your journey, we'd love to hear it.
Share one word that describes what this community means to you. ๐
Aphasia brings us together. Community keeps us there.

You can help someone feel less alone. Starting today. ๐ Happy Aphasia Awareness Month! ๐
Today, we are launching something we have been so excited to share with you.
Aphasia changes communication. But the need to connect โ to be heard, to belong, to laugh with someone who truly understands โ that never, ever changes.
ARCโs mission is simple: make sure no one has to face aphasia alone.
And this month, YOU can help us reach the families who havenโt found us yet.
Start a Facebook fundraiser for ARC.
You can do it on your own. Or do it together with your care partner or family member โ itโs a beautiful thing to do side by side.
Your friends and family will donate. And they will learn about aphasia for the very first time.
๐ Raise $250 or more by June 30 and choose a FREE ARC t-shirt of your choice! (US mailing addresses only)
