Earlier today, I was mowing the lawn before heading to work. Unfortunately, a small snake was killed by my lawnmower. Can anyone identify the species?

From escaping war in Cambodia to building a life in France—and finally transforming a forgotten Whiteville building into a thriving restaurant—this couple’s journey spans the globe and decades of resilience.
Now, their story is bringing new life to downtown Whiteville in a way no one expected. Watch how *The Chef and the Frog* turned history into something you can taste in my latest, "Tides of Time" segment.

Have you ever experienced adversity, struggled with giving up and throwing in the towel? Well, you’ll want watch my “Tides of Time” segment airing on WWAY News at 6 PM tonight.

It’s about Guillaume and Socun, a couple who’s living their dream in Whiteville but it wasn’t easy getting to where they are today. She survived a Communist regime that threatened to kill her family, finding her passion for cooking in France along with the love of her life, moving to the U.S., business ventures that failed and then charting a new course that led them to the Cape Fear.

Y’all I’ve spent countless hours in the last week writing and editing this inspiring story. Why? Because it needs to be told. People need to know that despite the rough stuff they’re facing—grit, determination and perseverance pays off.

Please watch it and encourage someone today who’s literally at the end of their rope to watch it. Thanks!

Happy Mother’s Day! If you’re wondering why I’m showing pictures of my dear late friend, Donna Gregory WWAY, it’s because of something she shared with me after my mom died in 2022. I think it may encourage some of you today.

Donna and I shared lots of personal things. One time, I told her it pained me to walk down the grocery store aisle with greeting cards around Mother’s Day—seeing other people selecting the perfect card for their mom. Actually, I was jealous that I would never have the opportunity to buy a card again for my mom.

Donna had a way of reframing a seemingly bad situation into an opportunity. She suggested the next time I pass the card section that I buy one, two or three cards to give to other moms who probably need a pick-me-up.

She said that would be a good way to continue the tradition of buying a Mother’s Day card while also encouraging another mom to keep d**g the awesome things they’re doing—as my mom did for my brother and me. I’ve never forgotten Donna’s advice.

So, today, if your mom is living—celebrate her with a card, flowers or some other gesture of gratitude. If your mom has transitioned to her Heavenly home, do something for another mom today in honor of your mother’s legacy.

Have a great Sunday everyone and know that you are loved. 🥰
