CORRECTED- Proposed calendars for 2023-24
(from LEA President, Sandy Sullivan's "Thursday Thoughts")
At Tuesday’s School Board meeting three proposed calendars for the 2023-24 school year were presented by staff. There was a great deal of discussion by School Board members over the process Human Relations and Talent Development (HRTD) outlined for the adoption of the calendar.
Also, concerns were shared regarding the need to ensure unencumbered planning days before the school year begins are honored–we are being heard!!
In addition to the 2023-24 School Calendar Teacher Survey (which left out a HUGE group of our educators–Education Support Professionals), there will be a mechanism for employees and the public to provide input. I spoke initially at the HRTD Comm. meeting about this unacceptable oversight, and have now given public comment at the past two School Board meetings.
Input from all employees and the public will be solicited via the LCPS website. I will share that information when it is posted. So, examine the calendar options and prepare to provide your input!

“We need a stronger voice in making key decisions as educators as we are on the frontlines every day working with our students. We know our students best, so teachers need the right to join together and have essential support when we need it.” – Racheal Flaks, LEA Member.
