Summer is here, and so are the sweat droplets on our foreheads! At The Red Barn, we're not letting the heat get us down. We're getting creative with our lessons. Think more ground work, group activities, and learning games. And, let's be real, we might just give a horse a bath just so we can cool off 😂. Stay tuned for that!

Before July 4, honor a veteran who has made a difference in your life.
Your gift to The Red Barn will help veterans find peace, confidence, and connection through the healing power of horses.
We’ll even send a heartfelt notification letting them know a gift was made in their honor.

The bond between a child and a horse is something special.
Horses help children build confidence, trust, patience, and emotional strength, all while having fun and feeling connected. At The Red Barn, we see children grow in courage and confidence with every ride.
Sometimes the best lessons come from someone with four legs.

Yesterday we said a very unexpected goodbye to our wonderful therapy horse Caramel. Caramel might have only been at The Red Barn for 2 years, but during that time, he impacted more lives than we can count. If you’ve been to the barn in the last 2 years, you have definitely been greeted by him!
Caramel was a phenomenal teacher. He was kind, he was patient, he was smart (sometimes too smart), and he was not afraid to ask you to do things correctly. Caramel could simultaneously hold his rider accountable and give them immense grace. He could keep you humble and build you up. He was the type of horse that all instructors dream of having the opportunity to work with.
Shelley Burke Attebery graciously shared Caramel with The Red Barn. She recognized his ability to serve and teach our students, but she also knew that we would immediately fall in love with Caramel. We will never be able to thank Shelley enough for sharing him with all of us at The Red Barn.
We will miss so many things about Caramel, but the thing that we will miss the most is seeing students go from timid and reactive to confident and proactive while riding him. Caramel taught lessons that reached far beyond the barn.
Rest in peace, sweet Caramel. The barn won’t be the same without you, especially at feeding time💙

This Memorial Day, we pause to remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country.
Their sacrifice will never be forgotten.
At The Red Barn, we also honor veterans who continue to carry the invisible wounds of service long after they return home.
This Memorial Day, you can honor someone you love while helping a veteran find healing, peace, and connection through our programs.
When you make a gift in honor or memory of a veteran, we’ll send a heartfelt note to their family or loved one letting them know their legacy continues to make a difference.
Honor their sacrifice. Help another veteran heal.
