Just arriving at the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum station, Southern 4501 soaks in the warming of the sun. The 2-8-2 mikado type steam engine dressed in Southern colors of green and gold, its paint gleaming in the morning light.

CSX 4621 / WM 501 - Late Night in Ridgeley Yard

CSX EMD SD40 4671 idles in the Ridgeley Yard after finishing its yard work for the night. Meanwhile, Western Maryland EMD GP30 501 sits on the adjacent track with its cab lights on, but it’s crew elsewhere.

GSMR 1702 - Some Kudzu Coverage

Stomping its way up the line, Great Smokey Mountain Railroad 1702, a 2-8-0 consolidation type steam engine, passes by the many areas where kudzu has taken over, just right of the frame.
Kudzu is an invasive species in the US, ironically brought over to stop soil erosion, it’s now know as the “Vine That Ate the South!”

Thundering up the line, Cumbres and Toltec Scenic Railroad K-36 #488 passes by the historic Denver & Rio Grande Western Cresco Tank, just a little ways up from state line crossing from New Mexico into Colorado

Southern 4501 - Sunny Southern Steam

Working its way down the line, Southern 4501 breaks free out of the tree tunnel as it crosses over Oakton Road, south of LaFayette, Georgia. Bound for Summerville, Georgia, Southern 4501 sports its old Southern green and gold colors for the summer season thanks to the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum.

Hurrying its train back to the museum station, Southern 4501 rushes through the curves near Rossville, Georgia. Seen here, dressed in beautiful colors of old, Southern Railroads green and gold, like it used to wear back in the 1980s-1990s, the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum returned Southern 4501 to the classic Southern colors for the 2026 summer season

WMSR 561 - GE Thunder at Sunnyside

Western Maryland 561, a General Electric B32-8, wastes no time hauling is train around the curve at Sunnyside as it nears the road crossing at Woodcock Hallow.
The 12-cylinder diesel engine chugs aways as its glimmering red and white paint streaks through the snow cloaked mountainous Appalachian countryside
