U.S. Representative Tom Barrett represents Michigan’s 7th Congressional District.
Michigan’s 7th Congressional District includes all of Ingham, Clinton, Shiawassee, and Livingston Counties, most of Eaton County, and parts of Oakland and Genesee Counties. Skilled trades and engineering provide high-paying career paths for Michiganders. The annual Construction Science Expo was a huge success and brought together hundreds of Lansing students to connect with industry professionals and explore the trades. I enjoyed the chance to be a part of it!

Pipelines are the safest and cleanest way to move the energy our state relies on, and Line 5 is no exception. Michigan leads the nation in home heating with propane, and I was grateful to welcome Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lee Zeldin to Stockbridge to see how critical pipelines are delivering reliable energy for our state.

I voted to ban members of Congress from stock trading. Senate Democrats just blocked it. This is exactly why trust in Congress is so broken.

AI is transforming the world we live in unlike anything we’ve seen before. It’s clear we need an international agreement to put strong guardrails on this rapidly developing technology before it’s too late.
Today, I called on Secretary Rubio and Ambassador Waltz to work with other nations to begin that process and address the current and future risks of AI.
Thanks to pipelines and the union workers who build them, fuel safely and reliably gets across our state for families to heat their homes and fill up their cars. Shutting down these secure pipelines would only hurt Michigan workers while driving energy bills and gas prices even higher.

It was great to meet with local business leaders at the Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce’s Capitol Connections Breakfast this past week. I’ll continue working in Congress to support mid-Michigan’s workers and job providers who help our community thrive.
