This weekend was the Daddy-Daughter Dance for the homeschoolers! We were at 2|42 Community Center, and I set up on the stage to make as much room for dancing between the tables. The theme was Masquerade, and guests were handed masks, raffle tickets and scavenger hunt cards that focused on other guests. In addition to the dancing, professional photos, fun snack bar and craft area, I hosted 3 group games throughout the evening with the raffles.

One game was an alteration of my 'Go Skate' game from the Winter dance -- 'Go Play Outside' for Spring. Dads would send their daughters to go frolick until called home to warm up (hands to hands! Head to head! Ear to ear! Go play outside!) My favorite was at the end when daughters sent their dads out and they were committedly frolicking.

National DJ day is actually a thing? There are so many kinds - radio DJs, mobile DJs, turntablists, electronic musicians and more. I just play the favorites to set the mood for light-hearted fun, with high-fidelity sound equipment that literally shakes dust off the rafters and creative lighting!

My background in education has been very conducive to working with all ages, especially events with children. The families did an amazing job setting up for this Snow Glow Daddy Daughter Dance, allowing me to light the gym and fill it with dancing. Two games that went over well were the freeze version of 'Have you ever?' - after everyone is frozen, you jump up and dance if you meet the qualification; and Go Skating - daughters 'skate' dance away from dads until I call everyone home, where they warm themselves by touching the named body parts together, like hands! hips! eyelashes! Yes, I make up these games, mostly based on other games but altered for the audience and theme. All this and the mirror ball looked great during our 3 slow dances.

This year, almost all of my weddings have been for people that attended other weddings I performed and trusted me to provide a quality, exciting event for the whole family. I revisited some familiar places and discovered some beautiful new venues too.

2025 has been a great year, and I have had the pleasure of repeating services to schools and families with dances and musical activities, including Daddy-daughter dances, a blacklight dance and a school carnival! What can a DJ do at a carnival? Not only upbeat background music to make people move, but I set up a spotlight circle and anyone who lets me announce them while they dance in the circle gets a unique prize sticker.

Down in Plymouth at the Meeting House Grand Ballroom, dancing until the end. We started with swing and didn't look back! We even had kids joining in from start to finish.

The Grand Ledge Opera House is a change from setting up my table and speakers on the dance floor, but I put the speakers where the people were, and moved some tables to make room so the lighting could shine from overhead. The crowd was very fun, and from the start we had a great group dancing.

A beautiful day with a great view from the balcony around the large ballroom at Eagle Eye Golf Course. An amazing family and friend group stayed until the end.

We went under the sea at the Homeschool Daddy-Daughter Dance 2024. Riding the popularity of previous dances, a second time slot was added. With some games, line dances and playful participants, we had a great time!

I don't know who had more fun at this elementary school Glow Party! Finding songs they could sing along to, games that I could run for a huge crowd, and lighting to fill the gym was a blast. It is great to have such a receptive group. Plus, I enjoy working with Jason from OnStage Visuals, who provided the UV lighting.

Country Club of Lansing – January 13, 2024
The age of the building really adds to the charm. It was a cold day, but we got the party warmed up. Afterwards, the manager came out in an unusually kind gesture to let me know how well he thought I took care of the event, and how pleased he was working with me.
