WLC Aquatics

WLC Men started out the season with a Victory against Lansing!
They all had great swims & great times!
Out of 11 events, at least one athlete from WLC finished in the top 3 in every single event.
To say we are proud is an understatement!
We can't wait to take you along their journey this season & hope to see you all at some meets!

Thanks to Michigan weather, Relays has been postponed!
It will now take place tomorrow, Thursday Dec. 11th at 6pm!

‘Twas the night before Relays, and all through the teams,
Every swimmer was stirring, too excited to dream.
Their goggles were packed and their suits laid with care,
In hopes that new PRs soon would be there.

The carb snacks were waiting, the water bottles too,
As visions of fast races danced in full view.
And coaches were planning tomorrow’s big heat—
Preparing the lineups for swimmers to beat.

Then off to their beds the swimmers all crept,
Though none could relax enough to have slept.
“Tomorrow we race,” they whispered with might—
Each stroke cutting fast, each turn just right.

What an amazing conference meet we had this weekend! Every swimmer on Friday qualified to swim at one individual event on Saturday at finals. The team took 5th overall out of the 6 teams in our league.

Freshman Jozz Post took 2nd in the 200 Freestyle with a prelims time of 2:15.59 and a finals time of 2:15.03. Jozz is the CAAC Red League 2025 Champion in the 500 Freestyle with a prelims time of 6:11.42 and a finals time of 6:07.85. Congratulations, Jozz!!

Freshman Emma Grillo took 9th in the 200 Freestyle with a prelims time of 2:40.65 and a finals time of 2:40.40. Emma placed 13th in prelims in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:41.56.

Freshman Bella Alaniz took 11th in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 2:52.80 in prelims and a time of 2:49.65 in finals. Bella placed 11th in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:28.89 in prelims and a finals time of 1:27.96.

Junior Kris Permoda took 10th in the 200 IM with a prelims time of 3:39.41 and a finals times of 3:33.42. Kris placed 17th in prelims in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 2:00.72.

Freshman Jessie Gimm-Bergh qualified for finals in the 200 IM with a time of 4:18.96. Jessie placed 14th in the 100 Backstroke in prelims with a time of 1:50.46.

Great job to the whole team for their hard work and dedication this season. We swim again tomorrow at Second Shave at Beagle Middle School in Grand Ledge. The meet starts at 5:30pm.

On Saturday the team travelled to DeWitt for the Mike Keevan DeWitt Invitational for a great meet filled with races! The girls did amazing and really showed off the hard work they've put in this season so far.

Alaniz (9) swam the 200 Freestyle for the first time ever with a time of 2:53.48 and the 50 Freestyle with a time of 35.88.

Post (9) swam the 50 Freestyle with a time of 28.49, a season best, and the 100 Freestyle with a time of 1:02.09, another season best!

Grillo (9) swam the 100 Freestyle with a time of 1:16.54 and the 100 Breaststroke with a season best time of 1:39.43.

Permoda (11) swam the 500 Freestyle for the first time ever with a time of 8:17.71 and the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:51.81.

The 200 Freestyle relay team of Post (9), Alaniz (9), Permoda (11), and Grillo (9) swam a season best time of 2:17.04.

On Thursday the WLC Varsity Girls hosted the Charlotte Orioles for a dual meet.

Permoda (11) took 1st in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 3:00.50 and 3rd in the 100 Breaststroke with a lifetime best of 1:50.88.

Post (9) took 2nd place in the 200 IM with a lifetime best of 2:48.24 and 1st in the 100 Freestyle with a season best of 1:02.8.

Grillo (9) took 2nd in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 32.61 and 3rd in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 7:54.14.

Alaniz (9) took 3rd in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 35.25, a lifetime best, and 1st in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:33.72.

Mcintosh (10) took 6th in the 50 Freestyle with a time of 46.6, a lifetime best.

The 200 Freestyle relay team of Post (9), Alaniz (9), Permoda (11), and Grillo (9) took 1st with a time of 2:16.8.

On Thursday the team travelled to Eaton Rapids to swim against the Greyhounds.

Permoda (11) took 3rd in the 200 Freestyle with a time of 3:00.35 and 4th in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:46.71.
Post (9) took 1st in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 1:22.05, a personal record, and 1st in the 100 Backstroke with a time of 1:18.34.
Grillo (9) took 1st in the 100 Breaststroke with a time of 1:43.42.
