This past weekend, Carol and I joined many legislative colleagues in Marquette for the UP 200 sled dog race. Part of the weekend also included a tour of the Tilden iron ore mine. Both of these events helped to demonstrate, once again, just how diverse Michigan's economy is and how our policies must provide opportunities for success in multiple different sectors.

Today, I, along with 11 other colleagues, sent a letter to the Chief Justice of the Michigan Supreme Court sharing our significant concerns about the Court's proposed rule, which would prevent enforcement of our federal immigration laws in Michigan courthouses. This proposed rule would contradict the very purpose of the court buildings themselves, which is to provide a place where laws are enforced, and justice served. It could also make our courthouses refuges for dangerous and unlawful individuals. My hope is that the Supreme Court does the right thing and rejects this misguided policy.
