MSU Student Chapter MICNP

It is time for the annual MSU College of Human Medicine's Teddy Bear Health Picnic. We had such a great time last year interacting with the community and our colleagues in the field of medicine.

This is an excellent opportunity to get involved as well as spend some time with the pediatric population whether that is something you are passionate about or would just like to gain some experience.

Come join us on May 11th from 10am-1pm at Demonstration Hall Field. We are happy to have you join us at our tent or just come check it out with your family but be sure to stop by our tent and say hello! 💚🤍

It was a fabulous weekend of learning, advocating and networking at the annual MICNP conference in beautiful Grand Rapids. Such an amazing experience, including a student track. We hope you will join us next year!

Last but not least, allow us to introduce our Social Media Liaison Julie Johnson...

Hello! My name is Julie Johnson, and I am an FNP MSN student at Michigan State University. I am currently in my second year as a full-time student. I am the social media liaison for our chapter, and I am looking forward to meeting many like-minded individuals and advocating for our profession. I have been a nurse for thirteen years; I currently work as a pre-op nurse at Corewell Beaumont Troy. When I finish school, I hope to work in a family practice clinic. When I am not working or studying, I am usually running around my two daughters to dance competitions and softball games. I also enjoy spending time with my husband and friends and traveling when I can. I can't wait to meet all of you!

Let's introduce our Secretary, Avalon Vanderslice!

My name is Avalon and I am happy to be our secretary this year! I am on the AGPCNP-DNP track and am highly passionate about working with the elderly. Being a member of MICNP I love being able to advocate and involve myself in my future profession and supporting other NP students! In my free time, I’m usually spending it with my husband, our dog Mac, and our family and friends. I also enjoy gardening, reading, knitting, traveling, cooking, and being outside!

Allow us to introduce our Treasurer Nonye Amadi.

"Hi there! My name is Nonye, and I am in the BSN-DNP PMHNP program. Some of my main focuses as a future PMHNP are community health, advocacy, and inter-professional collaboration. I am excited to be the treasurer for our student chapter this school year. I aim to help our organization fund activities, events, and more. As of right now, I work in both inpatient and outpatient scenes, but in my free time, I like to paint, dabble in music discovery, and skateboard poorly. 🛹 Nice to meet you all!"

Hey everyone! We would like to take this opportunity to introduce our admin board. Let's kick it off with our President Kayeleigh Brown.

"My name is Kayeleigh Brown, and I am in my second year in the full-time FNP-DNP program. I am thrilled to serve as your president for the MSU Student Chapter of MICNP! I look forward to building a community with you and supporting and growing our profession together. I currently work part-time as a Pediatric ICU RN at Helen Devos Children's Hospital. I married my nursing school best friend this summer, and he is a medical ICU RN. We enjoy hiking, camping, skiing, and golfing. I am excited to get to know you, and please reach out with anything. Go green!"

📣Michigan Council of Nurse Practitioners-MSU Student Chapter would like to invite you to join us for the 17th annual Teddy Bear Picnic on Saturday, May 20, 2023 from 11:00 AM -2:00 PM at Munn Intramural Field on main campus.

This is a free community event that helps children learn the importance of health and well-being and become more comfortable with doctors,🩺️ NURSE PRACTITIONERS🩻, and other health care providers.

🧸Children are encouraged to bring a favorite teddy bear or stuffed animal for a wellness check-up with physicians and students from MSU's health colleges. There will be other booths with face painting, balloon animals, giveaways, arts and crafts, vaccinations and more.

Our colleagues from the MSU Turkish Student Association reached out and asked us to share. If you are in the area on Friday night you should stop in at the International Center Room between 4-7 pm on campus for Turkish hors d'oeuvres.
