On Tuesday I had a challenging class on basic studio portraits using mostly new studio equipment that I had never done a portrait session with! My old 50 year old Norman pack that we had stored for our move from Idaho 3-years ago Died on start-up a week before this class! So, doing this class for LPA was daunting. But all went well and after my First exposure with our fabulous model, Nicholas Freeman, I was dialed-in and excited! Here's a few of my favorite images.....What a terrific model he is to work with! Here's one image from my little studio on location I took at the LPA motion portrait workshop last night. It's unusual, and fun, using Continuous lights instead of Studio Flash for action photography! Just starting processing the images-great fun!

To wrap up our 40th Wedding Anniversary road trip we went north to Moro bay; but first, the evening before, we caught sunset at Moonstone beach. It was a nice misty cool sunset-I liked the board walk and its "S" curve so I caught Kathi walking there. The two images after are at Moro Bay; the squirrels were more interesting, and funny, than the sea otters, and I really liked the colors of the cactus blooming and Moro Rock.

Our 40th Anniversary Saga continues. We were so jazzed about our first Hearst Castle tour that we went back the next morning for another! This time we did the Upstairs Rooms Tour; this covers the libraries, the W. R. Hearst bedroom, and guest bedrooms. So, we booked the first morning tour on Tuesday and we were the only people that showed up so we got a Private Tour! Just me and Kathi and the tour guide-a photographer's dream tour!! This first image was taken in our moving bus through the front window-not easy on that twisty bumpy road!

For our 40th Wedding Anniversary we did a road trip to Cambria, San Simeon, and Moro Bay. We toured Hearst Castle first and were really impressed! We did the Grand Rooms Tour on Monday morning. As professional photographer I always try to create images that are different from the typical overall views most tourists do-I look for details or areas with powerful directional light like this...

Walking through the Desert Preserve and spotted an unusual cloud that looked like it was literally flying across the sky. So, I waited for it to fly near some foreground Joshua trees for nice compositions. This went on for a good 30 minutes and the cloud held its shape...

For this test of my Canon EF100-400 lens I went over the Nature Preserve to attempt some wildlife images; this stuff is WAY harder than any motorsports photography!! After 45 minutes of walking around and missing many shots this cotton tail just hopped in front of me and FROZE and I got at 400mm! The exposure was f7.1 at 1/800 sec. at 800 ISO.
